Today is Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti Before Ramayana was written, Maharishi Valmiki saw something which disturbed him deeply. He was near the Tamasa river with his disciple Bharadvaja when a hunter killed one of two Krauncha birds. The female bird cried for her companion and Maharishi Valmiki was so disturbed that he cursed the hunter. His words came out in the form of a shloka. Later, when he returned to his ashram, Bhagwan Brahma appeared before him. Now see what the Ramayana says. तद्गतेनैव मनसा वाल्मीकिर्ध्यानमास्थितः Even with Brahma sitting before him, the Maharishi was still thinking about that bird Brahma then smiled and told him that the shloka had come through His will. He asked Maharishi Valmiki to compose the story of Shri Rama. Just think of this for a moment. Bhagwan Brahma himself was sitting before the Rishi, yet he could not forget the suffering of that little bird. I find this one of the most moving parts of how the Ramayana came to be written. His shoka became a shloka. Something painful entered the heart of a Rishi & did not remain only as pain. It became the Ramayana. If possible, read Bala Kanda, Sarga 2 today. Jupiter enters Leo on October 31 When Jupiter entered Cancer on June 2, there was so much excitement about its exaltation.. as if everyone was suddenly going to become successful. Now similar things are going on with Jupiter entering Leo. there is something worth understanding. In the Valmiki Ramayana, Maharishi Valmiki describes five planets in exaltation at Shri Rama birth. Sun in Aries, Mars in Capricorn, Jupiter in Cancer, Venus in Pisces, Saturn in Libra. Cancer Lagna, with Moon & Jupiter together in 1H. Yet Shri Rama went through 14 years of exile, separation from Sita & the war with Ravana. Five exalted planets did not mean a life without suffering or difficult responsibilities. And that was His birth chart.. not even a transit. Now consider the Jupiter transit. Jupiter is leaving Cancer, its exaltation sign, and entering Leo, a friendly sign ruled by the Sun. But Jupiter enters Leo in Magha, ruled by Ketu. And Ketu is already there. Both will come together at the same degree around November 12. For someone whose Moonsign is Gemini, Jupiter in Leo will be 3rd from the Moon. For someone whose Moonsign is Libra, the same Jupiter will be 11th from the Moon. The same transit is unfavourable for one while favourable for other. And this is before examining the ascendant, the houses Jupiter rules, its strength, planetary influences & the running planetary periods. The transit is the same for everyone. But the results will not be the same when every birth chart is different. If even 5 exalted planets in a birth chart cannot promise a life without difficulties, how can one favourable transit alone guarantee success? Save yourself from predictions based only on transits.. be it Jupiter entering Leo, Venus retrograde or Mercury retrograde.
