To the young dads out there. I have just one word of advice. Carve out time EVERY week to have uninterrupted quality time with your children. This includes leaving the phone on the table.
Be fully present with them. In this photo from many years ago they were so proud to show me their “longest hopscotch ever” ❤️.
Today? My daughter on the right is in college (we did a FaceTime yesterday from her dorm. As we do every Sunday) & my daughter on the left starts driving soon.
Time evaporates faster than water on a hot day.

The dancing sun miracle, witnessed by around 70,000 people in Fatima, Portugal, on October 13, 1917, was reported even by O Século, an anti-Catholic and secular Lisbon newspaper. Its journalist, Avelino de Almeida, described how the sun “whirled and trembled in the sky” before seeming to fall toward the earth. It remains one of the most widely documented miracles of the 20th century.

Chris Moneymaker was one decision away from exposing his bluff. Instead, the professional sitting across from him folded the winning hand. Hours later, the accountant walked away with $2.5 million.
Moneymaker was an accountant playing his first live poker tournament. Across the table sat veteran professional Sammy Farha. Millions would eventually watch their cards on television. Neither player could see what the other was holding.
Late in their heads-up battle, Moneymaker missed his draws. He had king-high. Farha held a pair of nines, the better hand.
Moneymaker went all in.
Farha folded. The weaker hand took the pot. Moneymaker later won the championship, and an amateur’s victory helped ignite a worldwide poker boom.
The uncomfortable lesson is not “be fearless.” Copy that move without understanding the situation and you can lose everything. It is that a confident action and a strong position are not the same thing. From the outside, they can look identical.
That matters far beyond poker. A seller’s certainty tells you how convincingly they can present their position, not how good that position actually is.
You do not get to see everyone’s cards. You still get to decide whether their confidence deserves your money.

You're burnt out on being out of shape.
I see it everywhere:
- Dad snaps at kids over spilled juice
- Scrolling while kids play at the playground
- Checked out by 7pm every night
- Blames "getting older"
Brother, you're 35, not 85.
Your kids aren't harder to deal with than other kids.
You're just too exhausted to handle normal kid behavior.
When I was:
• Sleeping 5 hours
• Skipping workouts
• Eating crap
• 30lbs overweight
Everything felt impossible. I had zero patience.
WHAT I FIXED:
→ Lift 3-4x per week (non-negotiable)
→ 7+ hours sleep
→ 180g+ protein daily
→ Walked 8k steps minimum
Within 8 weeks? Different human.
THE RESULT:
Same kids. Same chaos. Same schedule.
But now I can:
• Wrestle after dinner without being gassed
• Stay calm when they're melting down
• Actually enjoy being a dad
Your body is either an asset or a liability in fatherhood.
Stop blaming your kids for your lack of discipline.
Fix yourself. Everything else gets easier.

It turns on the guy is an awesome husband and Dad who was grieving the death of a friend that night. He had offered to take the baby but his wife wanted him to have it a little bit easier that night. Crazy how car dealerships can change the price on you last-minute when you don’t play their games
When we bought our Honda odyssey, I did a ton of research. Literally watched YouTube videos about how to negotiate at the dealership
The biggest advice was don’t tell them how you’re planning on paying until you get the price you want.
So that’s exactly what I did. I walked in, did the test drive and sat down with the salesman. I told him straight up, I will buy this van for $33k right now (it was listed at $36k). I showed him some comps and he asked if I was planning to finance it. I said “I’m not sure yet, depends on the price I can get.”
He left and took it to his manager.
He was gone forever. But he came back with a piece of paper “if you sign this paper, I can sell it to you for $33k”
After I signed it, he said “You’re planning to finance it, right?”
I said nope, I’m paying cash. He then checked the box “no financing”, shook my hand and walked away. In my mind, I had purchased the car for $33k all cash. The deal was done.
He was gone for about 20 minutes. Then the finance manager came out. He had a new piece of paper in his hands that said I was buying it for $36k and asked me to sign it
He told me they could only give it to me for $33k if I financed it. I said no way. I had signed a paper and the salesman agreed.
I told him I would walk if they went back on the price. He got pretty frustrated but eventually agreed. I had signed and checked the box “no financing.” He re-printed the papers at the right price and I got the car
The general manager came over afterward and said “okay, let’s take the gloves off”
It’s crazy to me that dealerships are so reliant on people financing cars that they looked down on people paying cash. They looked at me like I was the bad guy or trying to scam them because I didn’t want their predatory lending
Do your research, know what price you want, and don’t agree to anything until you get it. Walk away if you can’t get it for that price and don’t let them convince you to finance it
