Biggest issue when hardware fails/original HMI is damaged and replacement is needed. We get called to users who have no plan in place or donāt realise they have a problem. Add in IIoT safeguards, passwords & user credentials, which can also be unknown, and it can be a challenge.
You make a great point @macdonaldncode, it needs consideration for sure. Software should be included in the docs handover at the end of every project, or following any updates, so a backup copy is safely secured. Not all devs or suppliers prioritise this and problems can occur.
