I just watched someone talk about her mental health struggles on TV. Bell's palsy plainly evident.
I'm not going to say who she is--Not needing to be accused of "diagnosing someone over TV."
But people should know Lyme can cause Bell's palsy, & that neuropsychiatric manifestations of Lyme are common.

Nothing says spring like a picture full of nymph ticks!
This is how small ticks are at this time of year. Ticks are out and questing for a blood meal.
Do those tick checks every time you come in from outside and use a good repellant containing Picaridin/Incaridin. #LymeDisease

Most (over 90%) of #LymeDisease cases are associated with the bite of the nymphal stage of the blacklegged tick (the size of a pinhead.)

"I failed MS medications because I have #Lyme disease. And based on that 2019 research of MS prevalence in the US—the one with the map that unmistakably parallels tick country—others misdiagnosed must be failing their MS treatments, too."
In multiple sclerosis, what if one big secret to the disease lies not tucked away in the incremental treatment successes, but buried deeply within its failures? #LymeDisease

A protein in spirochetes (bacteria like those causing Lyme & syphilis) looks like myelin to the immune system.
Myelin surrounds our nerves. A confused immune response against it causes demyelination, hallmark of MS.
This is only a tiny bit of the data linking MS to infection.

In our MyLymeData research project of patients misdiagnosed, 14% reported that their misdiagnosis was with MS. Many patients who responded to our subsequent survey who had been misdiagnosed with MS reported that treatment with antibiotic were helpful. lymedisease.org/lymepolicywo…

Yes, this happens often when patients are misdx’ed and treated w/steroids for presumed #autoimmune disease, when they actually have #Lyme. Consequence of inaccurate diagnostics @ActiveMSer

This is why @BayAreaLyme has always pursued improved diagnostics. They are the key to early treatment/right treatment (not, ahem, immunosuppressants). Lyme misdiagnosis is commonplace, we’ve heard the same story 1000X. @JohnRossMD @sabeti_lab @davidasinclair @KariusInc
