This is why the entire narrative about Dems losing touch with the working class while Trump apparently showed he cares for them is so infuriating. Biden tried to give extra pay to 4 million workers. A Trump-appointed conservative judge just blocked him. No blowback for Trump.
NEW: A Texas federal judge has struck down a DOL rule that would have expanded overtime eligibility to four million new workers, kneecapping one of the Biden administration’s most substantial labor policies. blawgo.com/XBrh8tH

The latest US literacy stats have just dropped and they are every bit as grim as you might imagine. "Approximately 50% of Americans read so poorly that they are unable to perform simple tasks such as reading prescription drug labels"

For those who suggest the big problem for the Dems was information silos -- the fact that Trump targeted livestreamers/podcasters/YouTubers -- and that's where a lot of people, especially young people get info, that's true, but, there's something to consider. A 🧵...

"These studies reveal an interesting fault line. While most women get their news from TikTok, most young men get their news from YouTube, X, and Reddit." Also, if you read a newspaper, odds are 3-to-1 you voted Harris. If you don't consume news, odds are 2-to-1 you voted Trump.

"It's not messaging, Dana." @BernieSanders tells @DanaBashCNN that "when you have three people on top owning more wealth than the bottom half of American society, when you have millions and millions of people working for starvation wages, you got to speak to that reality."

You can’t beat fascism by appealing to “civility” or “bipartisanship.” The only way to stop people from getting radicalized by the Far Right is to give them a better enemy: the rich. youtu.be/V32P463AR0k?si=t8fM…

Slightly reluctant to ask, but seen lots of Tweets about how it was young white men wot won it for Trump but can't find any actual voting numbers. Has anyone got them? I've seen polls from about a week before but nothing from the actual day. Anyone?

We’re going to hear lots of stories about which people, policies and rhetoric are to blame for the Democrats’ defeat. Some of those stories may even be true! But an underrated factor is that 2024 was an absolutely horrendous year for incumbents around the world 👇

NEW: a recent study found a fascinating pattern People are becoming more zero-sum in their thinking, and weaker economic growth may explain why Older generations grew up with high growth and formed aspirational attitudes; younger ones have faced low growth and are more zero-sum

Hold on. Kamala Harris said in this election that Donald Trump was a "fascist". a) Did she mean it, in which case how would it make sense to speak in these terms. b) Did she not mean it when she said it, which would be absurdly cynical behaviour?
Kamala Harris: "We must accept the results of this election. Earlier today, I spoke with President-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory. I also told him that we will help him and his team with their transition and that we will engage in a peaceful transfer of power."

Again, people don’t realize how bad it’s going to be for an anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorist to be in charge of our nation’s public health.
Congratulations @realDonaldTrump on your historic victory. Let’s bring the country together and Make America Healthy Again!

Congratulations to @realDonaldTrump on your victory. The UK has no greater friend than the US, with the special relationship being cherished on both sides of the Atlantic for more than 80 years. We look forward to working with you and @JDVance in the years ahead.
