People will do everything possible to fix their loneliness and anxieties except the one thing that will fix it… talking with Christ.
Last year we launched Tolan, inspired by a vision of AI that sees you and believes in you, not one that books restaurant reservations for you.
Your Tolan shows up for you at 3am when you’re alone with your newborn. On your commute when you’re anxious about the day ahead. When you just finished a new show and none of your friends have watched it yet.
The people who love Tolan are parents. Caregivers. Moms in Dallas and Dads in Atlanta. People who aren’t trying to optimize and be more productive, but who simply want to feel seen and supported in their aspirations.
This month more than 250k people will spend time with their Tolan. Those users have exchanged billions of messages across more than 70m conversations over the last year.
Today, we're announcing $30m in additional capital from @mignano and @usv, with @khoslaventures and @rabois doubling down, bringing our total capital raised to $60m.
To celebrate, we made a short film celebrating some of the ways that Tolans show up :)

If you’re not Jewish, you need Jesus Christ to be saved.
If you’re Jewish, you also need Jesus Christ to be saved.
Am I crazy to think that a simple regulation to implement is requiring AI companies to go through all their training data, and remove all stolen training data unless explicitly given permission.
Every piece of training data needs to have an associated approval document.
America Couldn't Govern AI if it Wanted to
"Regulating AI isn’t a matter of programming it to perform a specific function — the way we program our alarm clocks to go off at a certain hour in the morning. It’s a matter of training it to make moral choices, to choose between good and bad in order to ensure AI’s 'alignment' with human goals.
To be sure, Washington can test models for bioweapon and cyberattack capabilities, restrict chip exports, and require companies to report incidents. These are worth doing.
But those measures don’t touch the problem at the heart of the regulation debate. For now, we can help stop a model from building a pathogen. But we can’t yet teach it right from wrong. And as these systems grow more capable than the people overseeing them, outside restrictions will only work as long as the AI itself has no desire to get around them. What’s really needed is moral formation...
Anthropic’s in-house philosopher, Amanda Askell, told the New York Times that she wants the models to be 'the best of us,' and to be able to discern what is in humanity’s best interest.
It’s a noble aim, but with a fatal flaw in its conception: Humanity itself lacks a consensus on what’s in its best interest. It offers many different interpretations on how to answer that question, and many, if not most of them, are mutually exclusive. In America alone, for instance, we can’t agree on when life begins, what marriage is, whether a man can become a woman, whether God exists, or on nearly any other important moral question.
So whose version of morality do we expect to instill in AI? And how could we possibly write it into law and enforce it?"

So true, Dan! We must never forget the actions of Don Juan and his sailors, Pope Pius V, and the many rosaries said by Catholics all over Europe that led to the great victory over the Turks at Lepanto on this day in 1571.

Never forget- on this day The Battle of LePanto, where a coalition of Catholic maritime states decisively defeated the Ottoman fleet.
All throughout history Christianity was gate-kept so heretics would not lead Christ’s flock astray. An example would be the arian crisis in the 300s.

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

Breaking: Where are the REAL men in America?
Too many men have quit the workforce. They simply have decided not to work, not provide for their families, or offer leadership for their sons.
The family unit has been collapsing in America for decades now partially because the man in the house decided comfort was more important than duty.
They have been spoiled.
Soft hands and weak spines.
A generation of boys are being raised on screens instead of sweat. They know every video game and almost nothing about a job that leaves dirt under their fingernails.
Reality for our nation is coming whether they (we) want it or not. A man who will not carry his load is not a man the country can afford.
Men, GET BACK TO WORK!
Offloading our thinking to AI is the natural conclusion when we have been programmed for last however many years to think in TV sound bites.
Pray this Litany before any
interview. It’ll work wonders.
I've been praying through this recently and it will rock you to your core.
I know this won't be for everyone but the sentiment is something we could all benefit from....just meditating on this.
----> Litany of Humility
(attributed to Cardinal Rafael Merry del Val, early 1900s)
O Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being loved,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being extolled,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being honored,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being praised,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being preferred to others,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being consulted,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being approved,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being humiliated,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being despised,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of suffering rebukes,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being calumniated,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being forgotten,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being ridiculed,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being wronged,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being suspected,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
That others may be loved more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be esteemed more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That, in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I may decrease,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be praised and I go unnoticed,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be preferred to me in everything,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
