So excited to launch free, on-demand microtransit service in the SouthPark district starting Nov. 15. This program fulfills a commitment made in our SouthPark Forward 2035 Vision Plan and is a big step toward the community's vision for a more connected neighborhood.

Rise of the Central Fun District ...
NEW: There's a trend helping to revive downtowns = Crowds are back in the evenings and weekends. Most cities are 100%+ recovered to 2019 levels after work hours and on weekends. During the typical work day, urban cores are ~60% to 70% recovered. (This is via cellphone data)

Such a devastating day for our community. Heartbroken for our fallen law enforcement officers and deeply grateful for their sacrifice.
Officer Joshua Eyer has passed away tonight from his injuries after being shot in the line of duty this afternoon while assisting other officers with the apprehension of a suspect. Officer Eyer faithfully served the CMPD’s North Tryon Division for six years and was a member of the 178th Recruit Class. We are forever indebted to Officer Eyer for his bravery and ultimate sacrifice. His life and service will never be forgotten. Please say a prayer for Officer Eyer’s loved ones during this difficult time.

Grateful to have worked with Jim for a few years at the beginning of my career. He was a kind, patient man in a business that encouraged neither, and he made all of us better for it.
WBT has lost once of its great newsmen. Jim Barroll was a fixture in our newsroom from 1985-2016. I'm working right now on a special tribute for the show tomorrow morning. My condolences to his family and many colleagues.

I want to learn more about Bogotá’s care block program that aims to serve women by co-locating education, child care, health care, and public space.

What an exciting investment in collaboration and innovation among cities!
A new Bloomberg Cities Idea Exchange will provide resources to spur innovation and help break the so-called urban doom loop, writes @MikeBloomberg trib.al/VmaQqT8

It’s a privilege to attend this year’s @BloombergDotOrg #CityLab2023 conference in Washington, where leaders from around the world have come together to seek solutions to our most pressing challenges. Loved the challenge from @MitchLandrieu: “Let’s get the hell to work!”

RIP Steve. When he and my dad worked together at WBTV in the 90s, he'd often call our house to trade notes on stories they were covering. He became such a fixture that when the phone rang at dinnertime, we'd all say, "Oh, it's probably Crump." Love to Cathy & his family.
It is with great sadness that WBTV announces the passing of Steve Crump. Our thoughts and prayers are with Steve’s wife, Cathy, and with his many friends who will be touched by his loss. tinyurl.com/ytff9shy?utm_sou…

Thank you to our firefighters for their bravery last Thursday and every day.
We are so very grateful to the South Park Community Partners for their tribute to the heroic work of Charlotte Fire fighters who battled last week’s 5-alarm fire in our community. Charlotte firefighters are here for you, every day.
