When a client leaves IAPT not feeling better, they don't say "This brief, limited session mannualised therapy hasn't worked for me", they say
"THERAPY" hasn't worked for me"
& can come away thinking they are beyond help.
54% of IAPT clients don't come for a 2nd session.
I've been a bit quiet on here lately, while navigating the intricacies of my post-MA world, including setting up my own private practice. Yesterday was a chance to celebrate at my graduation though - what a day! #ClassOf2023 : uwe.stageclip.com/clip/addam…

I remember having to explain that not only are brown ppl capable of racism, but colonialism gave many a deep self loathing, which was then weaponised against other brown ppl
To @SuellaBraverman

Seeking asylum is a fundamental human right for people fleeing violence, persecution or war.
We have a duty to help refugees rebuild their lives.
Wherever they come from. Whenever they are forced to flee.

Isn't it funny when we women of colour complain or stand up for ourselves we're labelled angry and aggressive, yet the complaints of white women and men are considered reasonable and measured #race #class #whiteprivilege #equity #socialjustice

55 years ago today, Enoch Powell gave his poisonous "Rivers of Blood" speech, filled with claims about 'alien inflows' and 'fraudulent entry'.
We were founded the same year.
The 'Illegal' Migration Bill returns to Parliament next week, with that same dehumanising rhetoric. 🧵

Seeing a psychologist who describes themselves as trauma informed publicly attacking and harassing person with lived experience to point they have to leave the platform says a lot about their character.
It was never about the patients it’s all about their own agenda.
Very sad to see that @adamfare1996 has felt the need to leave twitter after yesterday’s events.
Hope that he is back soon. He is one of the very best on #mentalhealthtwitter

Big news! On Monday I won the lottery and quit my job! Ok, I only won £30, but the drive to get out of a negative work environment kept growing.
Still a few months until I qualify as a counsellor, so message away if you have any leads to keep me busy and paid in the interim 🙏🏽🙏🏽
