Brett is (inadvertently) showing off a hidden Fineliner feature here: Long-press the toolbar, and you can drag it to any screen edge!

We lost one of the greats of stage and screen today. And, in my book, a tremendous friend and man. I learned so much from him. I will miss you, Patrick Stewart, all of my days. @mang0ld

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026) Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love. We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway. America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire. His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen. Ian McKellen 29 October 2026 Photo: University of Huddersfield

LFM3-Audio-2B running fully local on an M4 Pro and it's pretty bonkers. I talk → the model hears the raw audio (no speech-to-text step) → it picks a tool and writes the call → the Mac acts → it talks back. can't wait to make this thing go brr on webgpu soon in runntime 👀

I have spoken out against anti-Muslim hate in the Michigan Senate race. I will speak out just as loudly when the target is Jewish people. Let me state a little-known fact: ISRAEL GETS LESS THAN 0.1 PERCENT OF THE FEDERAL BUDGET. That’s less than one tenth of a percent! But there is an ad running that tells voters they can’t afford groceries because the United States gives so much money to Israel. In reality, the United States spends money in and on countries all around the world – but this ad singles out the Jewish state. The ad is as dangerous as it is dishonest. You can disagree with how the United States spends money abroad. But telling hungry families that the Jewish state is the reason they are suffering is wrong and shameful. Blaming Jews for people’s problems is an old story. Anybody who has read the last century of history knows where it leads. It is a dark pathway. This ad is anti-Jewish hate and should come down immediately. Abdul El-Sayed should denounce it today.

Hi Sandy. Are you well? This is wrong. On January 1, 1993, we sent a press release saying that multiplayer would be in DOOM, a full 8 months before you joined the company. We knew deathmatch would be huge. In that press release, in January 1993, we said multiplayer would be "the number one cause of decreased productivity in businesses around the world." We were sure of it, and we needed no convincing. I understand you are proud of your work on DOOM, and you should be, but please also respect the accuracy of your statements, particularly around game history. My concern is that these false statements are designed to trigger replies (like this one), reposts, and outrage discussion, all with the view of increasing your followers and subscriptions, particularly since this false deathmatch story (among others) is so easily disproved. I’ve even welcomed you to reach out to me ahead of time. You seem to appreciate game history as much as I do. Could you not also make yours accurate?

When I’m feeling creative, I like to set up a DSL in SwiftUI, allowing backned-driven UI and custom content. We begin our small DSL with ContentItem, which stores an ID (for view diffing) and a ContentType. This is an enum that defines every kind of view we might want to render, for example text, code blocks, or images. This is where Swift really shines. We add associated values to the enum to define the ‘contents’ of the view, plus customisation options. For example, ContentType.text has the text itself, plus dynamic type style and a line limit for multiline text. This provides ergonomics that allow many combinations of types without exploding the API surface of the enum. The heart of the renderer is ContentItemView, that renders the view based on the ContentType. One big bloody switch statement. It is simple, fast, and explicit. blog.jacobstechtavern.com/p/…

Vibed up Dreamcast port run like shit? Trying to push polys like Shenmue, but wind up looking like Final Fantasy 7 for PS1? Is your weak SH4 math game holding you back from realizing your full potential on the little white box of dreams? Well fret no more, fellow DC devs, cuz SH4ZAM v0.10.0 just released, and we're bringing the GAINZ!!! 1) New optimizations for many of the most critical XMTRX-based matrix transforms and more! 2) New accelerated routines for the scalar, vector, quaternion, matrix, and XMTRX APIs. 3) C and C++ minimum language version requirements drop to C11 and C++17 (for all you dinosaurs out there), with extra goodies being added for C23, C++20, and C++23, which are now optional. 4) Swap between SH4 accelerated and fully SW-based back-ends at compile-time now, for troubleshooting potential bugs or for just flexing the FPS diff with and without GAINZ. 5) Initial Cell Broadband Engine SPU back-end added for bringing the GAINZ to the Sony Playstation 3 (by Fancy2209) 6) Nintendo Gamecube and Wii support is now out-of-the-box with the software back-end via libogc(2), with plans for an accelerated back-end specifically for the Gekko PPC CPU in the future. 7) MinGW-w64 compiler support with CI verification. 8) New AI/LLM-friendly documentation, so all you vibers out there can direct your audacious little clankers to sh4zam.com, where they can HOPEFULLY learn how to use my shit properly now. ;) 9) Critical bugfixes since previous release. GET IT WHILE IT'S HOT: github.com/gyrovorbis/sh4zam…

Thanks for all the great feedback on Claude for iPhone Duo! Lots of folk are now optimising their own Duo apps, so I wanted to share more about how we built it, and a few of the details we sweated along the way.
Here's the new Claude experience on the iPhone Duo! It's going to be amazing for multitasking, Claude Code, and creating new things. Looking forward to see folk start using it tomorrow!

iPhone Duo is here! Excited to have worked on the design of our open/close transition. It’s designed to make the two displays feel like one seamless experience by perceptually bending the focal plane, not the content, so that it feels like opening a window onto a singular view.

Good faith answer. We are born like this. I think it’s some developmental defect. My literal earliest memories in life were being confused at being called a boy and being horrified at having those parts. Eventually we are shamed and punished into not dressing, speaking and acting in the ways that feel natural. But that’s not really us, it’s a mask we wear for you. Internally, you perceive yourself as a woman trying to act like a boy. Our mental health universally shatters at puberty when testosterone hits. I failed the seventh grade and had multiple serious suicide attempts. Estrogen and anti-androgens are a miracle drug for us. I recognize I am biologically male, but something is wrong physically with me where my brain simply cannot function like that. I tried for a decade. It’s very sad birth defect and I would not wish it on anyone.
I have a serious question : WHY do trans women believe they are women? I want to know the why and I don’t want to hear “because that’swhat I identify as” who cares. I identify as a turtle. I want to know WHY? What makes you a woman. I’m so curious because I keep seeing this “transwomen are women” topic.

In 1983, a BBC interviewer asked Richard Feynman why two magnets push each other apart — and he refused to answer it. What he did instead is the best seven minutes on thinking ever filmed. Bookmark & watch today, no matter what.
