NEW: We are short Cerebras Systems $CBRS. Cerebras claims to have solved wafer-scale chips. We believe otherwise: $CBRS wafers break down after just ~2 years in use - a lifespan that undermines the entire business. See full report and disclosures on our website, link in bio.

Breaking: Several sections of @NYTimes front page story today mirror two earlier Hunterbrook investigations — without attribution.  Images. Methods. Sources. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?

Today I'm posting a new video to my YouTube Channel. Persistent misnaming of 17-OHPC as "progesterone" in medical literature lead to pregnant women receiving the wrong drug through compounding pharmacies: youtu.be/I1C9aDfLH-U

Hopefully not controversial among biologists. Investing new pooled assays that eliminate the need for a lot of automation >> automating independent samples. Exhibit A: genome sequencing. Not everything will work out this way, but it’s been a recipe for success for decades.
Maybe controversial: the conversation about scientific bottlenecks is overfocused on automation. New measurement technologies deserve more attention. You could automate an assay that needs an entire facility – or you could REINVENT the assay so that it fits into just a few tubes.

is it just me or is it very annoying that the meaning of "neoadjuvant" doesn't make any sense given the meaning of "neo-"?

Trevor Milton says an FBI agent posted from two anonymous X accounts. We talked to the man behind them. He does not appear to be the FBI agent. And the owner of the account Milton's lawsuit calls its "Utah correspondent" doesn't live in Utah. So why file in Utah? activ8insights.com/handlewit…

Another vulnerability few are talking about: I found my Claude Code exposing personal data in http headers because the sites it curled politely asked agents to identify their users 😊 Epistemic cybersecurity is the hot new category for 2027.

pretty much every major ai company now has a personal agent product except google: meta → muse anthropic → duet openai → dots spacex → bots slowly but surely the competition is shifting from who has the smartest model to who owns the persistent relationship with the user. this will be even more the case going forward. you're seeing this because we likely reached peak intelligence required to power most of the worlds workflows probably earlier this year if not late last year.

Today I am sharing a new preprint and accompanying blog post. Hundreds of published papers include impossible western blots showing protein expression in cell lines that have deleted or mutated genes. These clumsy mistakes are widespread and repeated by LLMs.

Imagine if some high school bros drew some buildings on CAD software then got all excited and declared software programmers have solved the most pressing problem of humanity: How to build more bulldings cheaply. Actually, no need to imagine. Just read below.
What is AI really capable of in bio? To separate hype from reality, we spent 3 months working firsthand with @AnthropicAI's internal research model to see if it could create an experimental scorpion antivenom. Introducing Citrini Therapeutics. citriniresearch.com/p/citrin…

Wow
So @TylerShultz_ as a Theranos whistleblower. And he wrote the piece you need to read about ‘You Can See Everything.’ Elizabeth Holmes is still lying, he says. And the filmmakers, while creating a great piece of art, fall short on looking outside the walls of her apartment to document that. One key detail: "My wife had to squeeze my arm to prevent me from jumping out of my seat in the theater and screaming, THAT IS NOT THE DEVICE." Again, that device Holmes showed? It's not the one we're talking about!!!! Having seen the film, I basically agree with Tyler's take. statnews.com/2026/10/19/eliz…
