The air entering a peregrine falcon's nose during its high speed dives (320 km/h) would cause its lungs to explode, but bony tubercles in its nares safely regulate the passage of air. Engineers solved the air intake in jet engines in a similar way: buff.ly/3GbfyKJ

This is what we get up for in the morning. Literally
While it didn't win, I'm still proud my image of our sun "Fire and Fusion" was shortlisted for the Astrophotographer of the Year award. At the time, it was my most detailed image of the sun ever! The full size image is nearly 300 megapixels.

Treat your brain with enhanced lens tech.
So the eyes are actually two pieces of brain. They're not connected to the brain. They are brain. During development, the eyes are part of the embryonic forebrain. They get pushed out of the skull during the first trimester, and then they reconnect to the rest of the brain.

Optics are amazing.
In this video on NightHawkInLight, Ben demonstrates how a "Lubor’s lens" works. This is a type of Fresnel lens that takes the light coming into it from the back at obtuse angles and projects it forward in the front of the lens [video: buff.ly/3lBAxgO]

On overcast days you’ll want to get 20-30min of morning sunlight exposure to your eyes, not with sunglasses or through a window or windshield. The positive benefits for focus, mood, sleep and metabolism are far reaching. On clear mornings 10min should suffice. #science
