Historian Sarah Paine: When Putin dies, there's no democratic election. It's a free-for-all.
Nobody in his network knows who takes over, and many Russians have military training, so civil war is possible. Recovery might take 10 years, a number I'm making up. 1/

NEW: UK Foreign Secretary @Ed_Miliband has told Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov that he and his government are responsible for killing innocent civilians, condemning Thursdayโs attack on Dnipro railway station
Speaking directly to Lavrov at a meeting of G20 foreign ministers in the US today, Miliband said:
"Let me say this directly to the Russian Foreign Minister: we all know who the aggressor in this war is. Let's talk about what happened at Dnipro railway yesterday. Only yesterday your drones attacked and killed 15 people. And there are countless examples like this of you killing innocent civilians throughout this war. We all know you are the aggressor. We all know you started this war four and a half years ago with the full scale invasion of Ukraine. "
"And Putin thought then he would win this war easily. But you are are not winning this war. Thanks to the courage of the Ukrainian people and the solidarity of countries round this table, you are not winning. If you had the courage to tell the truth and to do what is right you would tell Putin that he is not winning this war and will not win."

I keep saying it โ Wab Kinew is a leader for our future โ Canadaโs future.
Wab Kinew calls on Ottawa to abolish Indian Act: "I'm not sure if that lines up with your vision of Canada, that we still have a race-based form of identification in this country. It's long overdue that we have a relationship with Indigenous peoples in Canada that reflects who we are as Canadians today."

Carney enjoys near supermajority job approval ratings.
The Carney LPC are polling near 50%. His main opponent is 15-points behind and an election is at least 2 years or more away.
Closer association with the EU and diversifying our trade relationships enjoys near super majority support among Canadians as well.
The opposition rants and raves at all this.... Pushing against the grain of public opinion - but still appeasing their influencer base (who are the same people that think Jamil Jivani is going to run for premier ๐คช - for realz).
Carney has nothing to lose continuing to push a closer relationship with the EU.
(Not to mention how Trump and sychophants have changed their tune re: Canada, in the last couple of days)
(Not to mention that all this is driving the CPC Caucus into Leadership discussions again)
(Not to mention the fire it's lighting under EU countries that haven't ratified CETA as of yet, or the UK that can't be on the outside looking in - too much longer)
There's a lot more going on here.
๐คท๐คท๐คท
Remember when Carney said whether Canada becomes as associate member of the EU or it goes by another name is irrelevant.
So why is he keeping the issue alive? Could it be a distraction from what will be in the deal?

Everyone is singing in English, then Canadian singer Bryan Adams comes along and starts singing in Italian. You can see how delighted Luciano Pavarotti is, with a huge smile on his face. He seems genuinely impressed and deeply appreciative of the respect Bryan is showing, and you can even see him bowing at the end of the song.
Thereโs something I can learn from this. If everyone showed love and respect for one another, the world would be a much better place.
