Monthly reminder that poverty does not correlate directly to violence
The safest parts of Guatemala are the most impoverished & historically oppresed
They are also majority Mayan
Culturally, they handle violence differently than the rest of the country
Crime is mostly Culture

Have any of the "Immigrants do the jobs we don't want" people ever considered that those jobs can be automated or if you just raise the pay a bit people actually do want them?
The foreign-born population of the United States has been declining by roughly 168,000 per month since January of 2025.
Homes are still being built. America had record harvests in 2026. And economic growth has averaged 2.1% per quarter during this time.
America functions just fine without mass immigration.

Shocker the person who was a tourist went to touristy areas. God I forgot New Yorkers and east coasters in general are such uptight faggots

Also yes the American Revolution was very revolutionary. Our system of federalism was literally the first of its kind. The idea that political power originates from the people and that all branches of government trace their power back to the people was unique to America. Limited self-governance was in fact not a common thing in the era of kings and emperors. The list goes on and on of how the American Revolution radically changed the world. Practically every Communist and Marxist figure recognized the importance of the American Revolution.

The so called American revolution was literally the rich American class slave owners not wanting to pay taxes to Britain, wow so revolutionary… truly the people’s voice!!!

Doesn’t belong in Western civilisation.

AUSTRIANS ARE GERMAN
One of my pet theories is that political leaders are more willing to kill their own populations in wars if they’re foreigners without real affinity to the people dying. Napoleon was Corsican who spoke French with an accent. Hitler was an Austrian who knew multiracial Vienna better than Prussian Berlin. Stalin was from Georgia, and sent millions of Russians to death.
It is not a good idea to let anyone who isn’t rooted at least 3 generations deep anywhere near political power.
Do "people" really care about this?

Why did the Mayor of NYC never mention this but had to do multiple performative outrage posts over the cornell 7.

France has the highest social spending of any country in the world
A nice old building burns, and so the pearl-clutching begins. Where were these pearl clutchers when austerity was wrecking a generation? Why does one town hall grab their attention but millions of schools, hospitals, and homes dilapidated by neoliberalism are of no importance?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
France's level of public social spending was third highest in the world at 30.6% of GDP in 2024. Excluding the pandemic, it is slightly down from its 31.9% high in 2014. Total public spending is 57.2%, second highest among large countries not at war and near all-time highs.
