For many African girls, especially those growing up in the countryside, rain isn’t something to hide from. It’s a celebration. When the clouds open up and the first drops hit the warm earth, something stirs inside , a kind of joy that words don’t quite capture. They step outside, barefoot, faces turned up, arms open. The rain becomes a friend , a quiet escape from chores, noise, or even thoughts. It washes more than just the dust off their skin. It cleanses stress, carries away sadness, and replaces it with laughter, spinning, dancing. Sometimes it’s with sisters, cousins, or friends , other times, it’s just her and the sky. In that moment, she doesn’t feel small, or unheard. She feels seen by the clouds, touched by something bigger. It’s not about getting clean , it’s about feeling alive. 🌧💙
