I am old enough to remember 2011 (first term Key govt) and social media. Facebook/Twitter/Stuff Comments could not speak highly enough of Key. Boomerbook was all for Key. Labour comments were 👎 Now? 2026 (first term Fuxup govt?) nearly every comment is critical. #nzpol

Very cool and very normal. Utter failure @ElectoralCommNZ with multiple attempts being made to submit uploaded voting papers only to receive this error. Email assistance replies asking for a submission ID when no such ID is provided. Do you see the problem? #nzpol

I reckon National voters are more likely to stay home this year. They don’t like Luxon, and they know more than most that if Luxon loses, he gets rolled, and the pendulum can swing again in 2029. If he wins, another 3 years of a gibbering idiot nobody likes. #nzpol

A CGT is basically a deferred inheritance tax when you think about it. Shamefully, politicians today have no selling skills and will not promote an inheritance (death) tax which is more equitable and can ensure the widow/er is spared until their death because that cohort votes

With the phenomenal rate of unemployment growth perhaps the immigration tap should be firmly “off” with only specialist skills allowed to move to NZ whilst the NZ economy is cratering. Im sure NZ does not need to import liquor store managers.

Todays announcement by RBNZ shows that the economy will remain weak going into 2025, and that unemployment will continue to climb. The forecasts show employment is likely to remain below 2023 levels until Dec 2025 – while the labour force grows 28,000 during that period. a 🧵
