Pakistan seeks @IMFNews bailouts, struggles with mounting debt and demands sacrifices from ordinary citizens. Yet billions remain available for the privileges of the powerful military establishment. 1/2

The problem isn't just a shortage of money. It's a system that refuses to question who gets to spend it. 2/2 @DerekJGrossman

KP is now facing the suspension of local-govt elections alongside governor’s rule and emergency arrangements. Zia held party-less elections to control democracy. Munir seems to have discovered an even darker formula: no elections at all. @FrontLineHRD tribune.com.pk/story/2638909…

The latest footage released by the Baloch Women's Force from Alandor, Kech, is another reminder that decades of militarised policies have failed to bring peace to Balochistan. 1/2 @zehrijournalist @hrw

Pakistan's generals cannot bomb their way out of a political crisis. The Baloch people deserve justice, dignity, and the right to be heard. 2/2 #StopBalochGenocide @genocide_watch

Now Democrats have swept both chambers of Congress. What happens when Pakistan's political investments in Washington suddenly lose their value? Foreign policy built around flattering powerful individuals is not diplomacy. It is political dependency. 3/3 @arifanoor72

The tragedy of East Pakistan should have taught Pakistan's leadership that military force cannot settle political grievances. Ignoring public demands, suppressing dissent and refusing meaningful dialogue can deepen divisions for generations. 1/2 @rogueonomist
BREAKING | Rawalakot Concerns are growing over the situation in Rawalakot amid reports of an unusual movement of security forces in and around the JKAAC sit-in and protest. Local sources describe a significant increase in the movement and deployment of security personnel near the protest site, raising fears that an operation may be under consideration to dismantle the sit-in. These reports remain to be independently verified. The situation is fluid and should be closely monitored. #RightsMovementAJK

Kashmir requires a political process, not another security operation. Has Pakistan's political leadership learned anything from 1971? 2/2 @ZubairShahAgha1

Another $3 billion Saudi rollover, fading hopes of a $10 billion US facility, and continued reliance on international financing raise serious questions about the country's economic direction. 1/2 @FaseehMangi dawn.com/news/2042213

Pakistan cannot claim to be securing Balochistan while failing to secure the everyday needs of its people. A state that prioritises coercive control over public welfare only deepens alienation. 1/2 @drtchand

Pakistan's establishment often speaks of development in Balochistan, but development for whom? If dams threaten traditional karez irrigation, agricultural livelihoods and the natural flow of rivers. Genuine development begins with local consent. @KiyyaBaloch @hrw

Afghanistan’s modern statehood dates back to 1747, long before Pakistan even existed. It joined the UN in 1946, a year before Pakistan. Pakistan must understand that neither geography nor history can be rewritten by generals, threats or military propaganda. @Gulalai_Ismail
The #Pakistani military spokesman Gen Chaudary in a hostile and provocative manner says "#Afghanistan is not a state." Under international law, he is technically wrong. Afghanistan has been a state for centuries before Pakistan's creation. I urge the Pakistani establishment to change its risky and failing Afghanistan policy. The two countries need each other and must strive for positive relations.
