Only 40% of eligible New Yorkers are enrolled in Fair Fares – because many don’t know they qualify. The Council is proud to help streamline enrollment into the Fair Fares discounted transit program and enroll more New Yorkers in this vital program. Read more here: amny.com/news/fair-fares-cit…

NYC relies on state funding for 17% of its budget, with education and social services topping the list as highlighted in my new report. Both the city and state would be forced to make tough choices about paying for important programs should federal funding cuts occur. 🔗 osc.ny.gov/press/releases/20…

Strong Pokemon. Weak Pokemon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites.

9/11 taught us what hate can do and what happens when New Yorkers choose unity over division. As a former teacher who taught in the years soon after 9/11, and later as a City Council Member who worked to combat hate and strengthen communities, I have seen how important those lessons remain. Nearly 25 years later, we cannot fight hate selectively. Antisemitism, Islamophobia, racism and bigotry all tear at the same fabric of our city. That is why building bridges across communities is central to @JCRCNY’s work. We honor those we lost not only by remembering, but by choosing courage, decency and solidarity over fear and division. I wrote about why this moment demands all of us. Please read my @NYDailyNews op-ed: nydailynews.com/2026/09/08/9…

Every politician meets privately with business leaders. It means nothing. I find it weird that some liberals obsessively insinuate that the Black leader can't be trusted, despite his spotless ethics record. What else could it be?
I have said it many times, if you’re too slow or too stubborn to understand, I’ll say it with one more time: meeting secretly with a person you need to be investigating to find common ground is not the same as meeting publicly with a person you have no power to hold to account. If you don’t understand the respective roles and powers of the mayor of New York and the Speaker of the House, I don’t know what else to say to you. Also, based on his past secret meetings, eg with Silicon Valley, it’s understandable a lot of people don’t trust him.

Yes, that is exactly what happens. Local journalists should use more data in their reporting when discussing topics related to development, the budget, and housing affordability. @BetterBlocksNJ has even compiled it all for anyone who needs peer-reviewed references.
Replying to @eaconner
Like we'll all be so better off, and rents will drop in that neighborhood, if that building gets torn down and a big block replaces it.

I did not read this carefully. The $363 piece is the secondary market price for the ticket. The cost was $75, which is must more reasonable. That said, we should find a way to avoid scalpers taking away the opportunity for more accessible ticket prices.
The U.S. Open is owned by the USTA which is a non-profit. The idea that a day one ground pass is $363 is absurd. The USTA’s mission is to promote the sport of tennis. How is a $363 ground pass consistent with this mission?

The $363 Day 1 grounds pass price is from Ticketmaster's resale market; the USTA's official face value is $65. cbsnews.com/newyork/news/n… thebiglead.com/us-open-drawin…
