brat summer is over. now it's time for pannage autumn, the ancient medieval custom of releasing your pigs in the woods so they can eat the chestnuts and acorns that fall to the forest floor.

Some lovely local media coverage for our superstar GCSE students in Lewisham. We've been out and about at schools today capturing content - it's been great speaking to students and hearing about their plans for the future. Brings back lots of memories too!

A Level results day is one of the (many) highlights of our @LewishamCouncil comms calendar. Great to spend time with staff and students at @TheSFH6 and @elliereeves this morning, sharing some of our fantastic local success stories. 🫶
Team Lewisham absolutely smashing this week with another first rate campaign 💪. This video is just a small part of a much wider campaign celebrating the people and businesses who make the borough so special.
Local authority comms eh, nothing if not varied! #NotJustBins
Lewisham loves local! ⭐️
Good Food stores in Catford and Sydenham are a hidden gem and one of the many proudly independent small businesses that Lewisham has to offer 👏

Had a great time filming this video today, showcasing just one of our fab @LewishamCouncil summer activities.
Some nifty footwork on display there too… ⚽️
Our summer Holiday Activities and Food Programme is up and running! 🌞
More than 1,500 schoolchildren are enjoying our programme of free activities this summer. ⚽️
@chris_barnham spent time with the team and kids at Sydenham School today, organised by Ballers Sports Coaching ⬇️
Keeping children safe and supporting families are among the most important things we do in local government.
Huge congrats to my colleagues at @LewishamCouncil 👇

🧵A thread about the exciting redevelopment of Riverside Youth Club in Deptford.
👷 Yesterday we celebrated the official start of building works with our partners @youthfirstldn, @Millwall_MCT and others.
ALT Representatives from Lewisham Council, Youth First, Millwall Community Trust and other project partners celebrate the official ‘groundbreak’ at Riverside Youth Club.
Describing Beethoven’s Ninth as ‘totally naff’ is quite the bold take. 🤷
What piece of classic music is Sir @Keir_Starmer’s favourite…
Choose any in the world…
A Wesleyan Hymn… some rousing Elgar… a modern American classic… a slice of Wagnerian Opera…
And he alights on the EU Anthem…
Simultaneously totally naff and completely telling
This is becoming something of an annual tradition. Wouldn’t feel like a proper storm without a bit of Big Jet TV 💨🛬
Big Jet TV will be giving live coverage as #StormCiarán buffets planes landing at Heathrow Airport from 12 noon today

Great to visit and film with Feed the Hill in New Cross last week. They’re one of many fantastic community food-giving organisations working with @LewishamCouncil and others during the cost-of-living crisis. 👇
📅On #WorldFoodDay we'd like to introduce you to Feed the Hill in New Cross - one of many fantastic organisations in the borough improving access to nutritious and sustainable food.
🧵⬇️Watch our video and read on for more about how we're tackling food injustice.

Incredible, important video. Probably the best piece of mental health comms I’ve seen. You think you know where it’s going, until you don’t.
Bravo @NorwichCityFC

It’s fair to say that it’s not often that @BBCCountryfile comes to Lewisham. 📺🌾
It was great to work with their team, as well as my fab public health colleagues at @LewishamCouncil, to publicise the great work happening in this corner of south London to combat food poverty.
ICYMI: We invited @BBCCountryfile down to Beckenham Place Park to learn about community food growing and other ways we're tackling food insecurity. 🥗
Watch our Director of Public Health @DPH_Lewisham talk about it here, starting around 19 minutes in 👇

This, from my ace former colleague @rabbitinahat, is a must-listen for comms people about #AltText, why it matters, and why too many are still getting it wrong.

Local government isn’t all bins, parking and potholes - important though they are!
👇 This new initiative is a great example of how local councils are working with partners and sharing expertise to change lives and build stronger communities.
🧵 Today we held an event to celebrate the rollout of Engage - an important initiative that will help divert young people away from a life of violence.
⬇️ Read our thread to find out how we are working with partners to reduce youth reoffending and change lives.
ALT Picture shows the front cover of a flyer about the new Engage youth justice service. The text on the front cover reads: listening and supporting young people without judgement.
