For months I've been staring at this awful multimode spectrum (w/ messy intermodal hybridization)... then claude figures it out in a few hrs, using several signal processing + impressive analysis steps chained together. Amazed how fast it reasoned thru this dense dataset.
Riding an emotional high after attending first in person class in 3 years… had forgotten how magical physics is in person with its dramatic and powerful insights. Also just love statistical mechanics even though I’m so bad at it 😂 – at Stanford, CA
You have been such an outstanding research mentor to me and this is so well deserved @Bart_de_Nijs , congratulations!!
Massive congratulations to @Bart_de_Nijs for his recent University Research Fellow appointment by the @royalsociety.
Bart will explore how the powerful optical properties of metal nano-architectures can be harnessed for practical applications.

WOW congrats on this ❤️
Appreciate the opportunity to work with this team! Miss you all and sending hugs from San Francisco @DrFran_Colucci @FuyanW
So cool congrats Michelle!!
Our review (and my first publication in grad school @heilshornlab) is out in @NatRevNeurosci!
In it, we discuss how #biomaterials can be leveraged to improve models of neural development 🧠. Many thanks to @Julien_G_Roth for leading this wonderful team!

love the new title and all the best wishes for your new position!
Thanks to my friend @olumuyiwaayo for organising this. I’m looking for to it.
spent an afternoon converting my thesis from latex to word, would not recommend 😂😂 but if you need to do it, use #pandoc; requires some tweaking but works so well in the end!! #AcademicTwitter
fyi to everyone also writing papers/theses with latex while working at home: overleaf can sync with github and it’s saved me hours (and worry) on my masters thesis!! #AcademicTwitter overleaf.com/learn/how-to/Ho…

THERE ARE NATURAL LASERS IN SPACE?!!
Turns out that some stars & planets have lasers, where starlight (pump) is amplified by molecules in the planet's atmosphere/gas around the star (gain medium)🌌🌠Have your mind blown in this excellent article by @sophurky ⤵️ #photonics #space

Growing up we couldn’t afford to watch NatGeo, Discovery, or Animal Planet on tv.
PBS Nature was the only place where I saw wildlife in action (channel 12 in Philly!!!).
Young me would be in awe to see this today ❤️

so happy about this... GRE was the biggest waste of $205; not even looked at by most admissions i think. Physics GRE was also $150 and doing well just required buying the book everyone uses to cram. Some drive several hours to find nearest test center—many can’t afford that

Grad students be like “I know a spot” then take you to a seminar for that free lunch.
A remarkable and inspiring biography. I didn’t know anderson learned QM after he graduated college 👀
Philip Warren Anderson’s studies of superconductors led him to propose how the force carriers between subatomic particles acquire mass: the Anderson–Higgs mechanism is now part of the standard model of particle physics. He has died at 96 years old. go.nature.com/3aZaXKx

intentions, beliefs, & societies dealing with COVID:
• why are good intentions not enough to come to a good outcome?
• how do civil disagreements turn into battlefields?
• who suffers from unproductive arguing?
• what can we do to try to avoid this?
