You can always tell when something in Britain has been pedestrianised because the chat swaps from “if those feckless disabled scroungers can walk to the kitchen, they can get a job” to “what of the poor, ailing disabled who need to be driven directly to the shop doorstep?”
Apparently if you are a plumber or a painter you won't be able to go shopping in Oxford Street anymore.

The US State department straight up sent two officials to get Flavio elected, seems like the horse may have bolted on Matty's suddenly urgent standard for democratic self-government

Right that's supposed to be limited to the State Department and the CIA, it's not supposed to be this broad-based

There's a transatlantic thing here where any issue a candidate breaks from media-political consensus on is one they're "obsessed with" no matter what they actually devote their time to. The same thing came up with Mamdani during the campaign.

Almost nobody in British institutional media is intellectually fit to do anything except to backslap each other which is unfortunately the only real thing required of them

Unfortunately this is how it always goes in famous cities all over the world. Knocking down unique things in cool areas to sell generic upscale real estate marketed with the idea that the area is a cool place with unique things.

It's such a tell about lack of insight. Like do they think Lynch would have nothing more interesting to say about The Apartment than they do about their favourite "interesting taste" posture?

[hearing random spotify autoplay song] this sucks what is this bio: As beloved by real music heads as they were overlooked by idiot morons, this visionary group made challenging music that many spoon-fed swine couldn't handle me: at the same time it's undeniably compelling,

you just do it. I know everyone hates to hear that but there’s no secret. pick a book you’ll enjoy and put your phone in another room and do it even when it seems hard. and then do it as often as you can.
People who read books for fun in the big 26, genuinely how do you do it. I salute you your brain is made of sterner stuff than mine

I just recently read ATB, it's part of a streak of Japanese language novels I've been reading and it really has been a standout among them

You can also see the character "atheist who is certain God exists" in basically any Evangelical cultural product any time they try to portray an atheist at all.
