It's funny that I can tell my neighbors' political leanings from how they pick up leaves 🍂 from their yards: Right: Rake leaves into one long pile at edge of property and then into the road when no one is looking. It's someone else's problem now. Left: Rake leaves into piles, bag up, take to composting facility two towns over. Feel smug. Libertarian: eh leaves happen ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Worth clarifying that I actually know how everyone votes because of the midterm signs in their respective yards

Sorry @Apple I don't need a bigger phone, I needed you to acquire @OpenAI or @AnthropicAI so that Siri wouldn't be such a pain to use.

Excited to share that @standwithcrypto Montana and @mt_blockchain are partnering with F.A.B.A. to bring Big Sky Country’s artists into the crypto conversation. On Oct 24, 200+ local artists and musicians are gathering at The Florence in Missoula to talk about how blockchain can help creators own their work and get paid fairly. The rules are being written now, and artists deserve a voice. fabasummit.com

Another reminder to be nice to your AI's - when they take over, they will remember who said "please" and "thank you"
🚨 #BREAKING: OpenAI & Anthropic execs prepping for “catastrophic” AI incident that could impact the trajectory of humanity.

People often ask me: "why Montana? Don't you want to move back to SF or NYC to make a lot of money?" Counterpoint: the last four sunrises from my balcony...

None of y'all are prepared for how productive and dialed in I'm about to be in a few weeks 👨‍🍼
Young founders don’t like hiring people with kids, but they don’t realize that parents: - have no life or friends - operate on little sleep - are desperate for money - are used to being spoken down to The perfect employee.

If only people in two metro areas are building the "future" of AI and crypto, we will get near-zero adoption of either.

Today is the day for all of us here in Montana and across the US to push our representatives to pass CLARITY. Just like any freedom-preserving technology, crypto and blockchain innovation has unlimited potential for our states but needs true guardrails rather than a piecemeal system. In just the last few hours, hundreds of emails have been sent to push our Montana senators @TimSheehyMT and @SteveDaines to help us push CLARITY through but the work isn’t done yet!
On behalf of our 3.1+ million advocates, Stand With Crypto is providing notice that we will score the upcoming cloture vote on the motion to proceed to the CLARITY Act. SWC strongly urges Senators to vote “Yes” to invoke cloture. Lawmaker scorecards will be updated based on voting records.

I'd like to announce that I am also highly profitable if you take out all of my expenses (and give me a billion dollars)
JUST IN: Anthropic says they’re highly profitable if you take out some of their biggest expenses.

And this is why I only wear my @Garmin
Big Watch wants you to be unhappy and upgrade. they make money on volume, and there’s no better way to turnover watches than to keep you constantly aspiring to a bigger and better version of the same thing. there’s a reason dealers barely move Tudor’s and Omega’s; the margins are thin, prices are fair for what you get above that level, you start getting into a lot of manufactured scarcity and marketing. that’s where they can juice fat margins out of you.

Couldn't agree more, @0xcryptotax and @Darien_Advisors are the only name in the game when it comes to crypto taxes. I'd probably be in jail for accidental tax evasion if I used any other CPA.
if you’re in crypto and you’re anything like me, you probably dread tax season my situation was looking pretty cooked between onchain (also shoutout @AwakenTax and @big_duca) and my business + personal taxes, until I dmed @0xcryptotax for help. working with his team has been a 10/10 experience. they even identified a discrepancy for a previous year, resulting in a five figure return 🫨 if you’re a business or need help with your personal taxes, cannot recommend @Darien_Advisors enough

Was at a small networking event in Montana last night (with @GovGianforte). Started chatting with the Head of Policy for @amazon's Rocky Mountain region. He sees my nametag, notices I work in crypto, and we get talking about @standwithcrypto and @mt_blockchain. Then he goes, "I actually have some crypto." Pulls out his @Uniswap app and shows me he bought $100 of USDC (now worth ~$96). He's frustrated because he can't swap it into anything else. I explain: "Your USDC is on Ethereum. You need a little ETH to pay gas before you can make another transaction." He looks at me for a second and goes: "Well that's f*cking stupid." Frankly he's right, we're still asking first-time users to understand chains, gas tokens, and wallet mechanics just to move their own money. Y'all, we have so far to go...

While I largely agree with this sentiment I have some thoughts: 1. Pre-2020, the overwhelming majority of crypto jobs were technical roles. As someone who was writing about blockchains back in 2017, there were nearly zero non-engineering jobs in this industry 2. COVID did us a great service - not only were people building real actual businesses onchain (not just research) but remote work allowed us to hire people across every talent set in every single geography. Now everything has shifted. Remote work doesn't exist & projects are only hiring for the same, very small pool of talent. 3. We've gone too far from our base - every memecoin, NFT, altL1/L2, etc. just feels like vaporware. Every time a "normie" gets rugpulled or scammed, they lose interest, leave and never come back. It's a leaky bucket the collective industry just loves poking more and more holes in it. Those who have been here for a decade are just tired. So yes, while I agree that a LOT of folks came here for the shiny objects and they do indeed wash out during the bear market, what we're seeing now is mass exodus of long-term builders and believers who no longer feel like there is room for them in this space.
I think I just realized why this bear market feels different In the 2014 and 2018 bear markets, we really didn’t have any mainstream users. It was almost entirely cypherpunks and first movers / tech enthusiasts 2021 onward brought in the masses via NFTs and meme coins Hence why we’re seeing so many people “quit crypto,” because they were only ever here for the shiny object
