So proud to share my daughter illustrated her very first children’s book! She is well on her way to achieving her dream of becoming a famous illustrator. Please show your support by purchasing and sharing this book with others. a.co/d/8LqhFWA
This activity was so amazing to observe. The amount of thinking that was going on between each group as they were designing and testing their codes was incredible. Students were fully engaged and did not want to stop when the timer went off.
I love being a facilitator at this school! I was happy to work with the staff to bring their Trashion Show to life. All the models did an incredible job & the students designed super creative outfits & accessories. @GrubbsMg @NickGrzeda @LCPS_CTAE @LCPSOfficial @LoudounSupe
I had a blast working with the amazing 2nd graders in Mrs. Ruddy’s class this afternoon. They were great Animals Detectives!
Today at the Think Big Space, 2nd graders from Evergreen Mill participated in a livestream lesson that was broadcast to 2 other elementary schools across the county! With the help of @AlgorithmChef, they learned how to use Machine Learning w/ AutoDraw to identify mystery animals.
OMG! I love everything about this AND I am going to figure out a way for students to do this for upcoming social science lessons. Thanks for sharing @historysandoval
Students are creating "Labor Leader Legends" and "Ruthless Robber Barons" Funko Pops using @padlet for AI image creation. Ss download images to add to their Google Doc. They are coming out better than I imagined.
Totally one of my favorite days so far this school year!!!!!
We had so much fun celebrating being Comets on Space Day! Every student participated in critical thinking and had FUN! @HorizonElem @AlgorithmChef
Love my job!
One of my favorite moments of today. I love kids’ genuine joy when they succeed at solving a problem! @HorizonElem @AlgorithmChef
What a great way to start my week! I LOVED visiting all of the K-5 classes today and watching the students working on their computer science lessons. #WorldSpaceWeek #CSforLCPS
K-5 Ss @HorizonElem celebrated #WorldSpaceWeek by participating in grade level computer science activities. Ss engaged their critical thinking while using @LEGO_Group, @Ozobot, @Sphero, @Kahoot, @PlayCraftLearn, and @TerrapinBots to learn more about outer space. It was a blast!
One of the best things about my job this year is being able to collaborate with @MdotSmithTeachz and @SSGSlcps to create lessons that integrate computer science and social science. @csforlcps @NickGrzeda @DGrahamLCPS

It was really fun to watch the students engage in this lesson and create new codes for their sprites to execute. Lots of great thinking going on in Mr. Hester’s class this afternoon. #CSforLCPS
4th grade students in Mr. Hester's class @emerickelem1967 worked with @AlgorithmChef today to debug a map of Virginia in @GoogleForEdu CS First to review their knowledge of the 5 regions. Ss used their notes and textbook to verify information and make adjustments to their codes.
I am very humbled and honored by this nomination. #CSforLCPS
The CS Office wants to take a moment to spotlight one of our Elementary Instructional Facilitators of Computer Science @AlgorithmChef for being nominated for the @LCPSOfficial SHINE by @HaddockDawn for his continued support of the staff and students @emerickelem1967.
Any time I can wear a cool @SpongeBob shirt and work with @LEGO_Group is a good day. So happy to be supporting the amazing students and staff @HorizonElem this year. Go comets!
Students in 1st grade came to the Learning Lab to get an introduction to LEGO Spike kits and problem solving from the amazing @AlgorithmChef ! So happy to have Mr. DeLuca supporting our school. @csforlcps @HorizonElem
This session was a blast! So excited to do this two more times today. Shout out to @regratz87 for being my co-presenter and for my wife for making us the cool Taylor themed shirts. @taylorswift13
K-1 Ts from across @LCPSOfficial ❤️ learning to “Taylor” CS/CT to their @SSGSlcps units through fun & engaging activities. From helping Taylor to get to Travis by designing algorithms, to community helper dancing to teach conditionals, every one had a blast! @taylorswift13
Had the pleasure of visiting the @LCPSOfficial Admin Building today to work with Ts from the gifted department on the benefits of integrating computer science tools into their lesson designs. Lots of great ideas came up while they practiced coding with the @iRobotEducation Root.
4th grade Ss at Moorefield Station Elementary have been tasked to create devices with @LEGO_Education Spike to help fairytale characters solve problems. This device, called the Beanstalk Chopper 9000, was designed to help Jack keep his beanstalk from growing back. @lauralissak
For a fun way to practice descriptive writing, 3rd graders from Mrs. Parker’s class @RoundHillES learned about creating prompts for AI Image Generators. They then practiced writing prompts in a group for me to put into the @canva image generator to see what images were created.
Replying to @LCPSOfficial
@LCPSOfficial: 5th grade students at Moorefield Station Elementary used the @iRobotEducation Root to recreate Piet Mondrian art to reinforce concepts connected to geometry, measurement, and coding. I am so excited to see their final products in a few weeks. @lauralissak
K & 1st grade Ss @emerickelem1967 learned about CS concepts connected to facial recognition in library. Using the book, They All Saw A Cat by @BRENDAN_WENZEL, they abstracted common features of cats, looked for patterns, & created algorithms to help draw real & computer cats.
Kindergarten students @RoundHillES practiced unplugged computer science today when they created an outfit rule for @hellorubyworld to wear one day next week. This was a great way to integrate CS concepts into their reading and writing block. @csforlcps
I was very fortunate to visit Moorefield and observe Ms. Ackerman run this station with three different classes. It was highly engaging and students had to utilize all of their mathematical knowledge and coding background to create each image.

@LCPSOfficial: Today, we spotlight Ms. Lauren Ackerman, a fourth-grade teacher from Moorefield Station Elementary. In preparation for their @LCPS_Math SOL, she ran an @iRobotEducation Root station which challenged Ss to code the Root to draw various geometric concepts.
