The current airdrop meta is dying because projects are realising this: ​ Sybils are ruining distributions while real users are penalised. ​ Gone are the days of spinning up 50+ wallets and setting up a script to farm a project. ​ As stated in @nillion's post: ​ The value of a wallet's contribution matters more than the time spent doing it. ​ We can grind on Discord or spam transactions to hit certain milestones (like Arbitrum). But that no longer matters. ​ Projects are shifting towards rewarding meaningful contributions, especially those that can't be easily gamed. ​ I see 3 possible routes moving forward to qualify for future airdrops: _______________________________________ ​ 1. Go all in on a few projects that you have conviction in This includes being an active member of their communities. Just as we've seen how RedStone prioritised these contributions over those that are purely on-chain. ​ This route is time-consuming and it's not for everyone (including me). ​ But it will give the highest return (provided you have strong conviction in the project). _ ​ 2. Find tasks with high barriers to entry ​ If the task can be easily gamed, bots and Sybils will exploit it. ​ Reverse engineering is the key to winning this game: ​ Can others do this easily, or is there some perceived friction that prevents them from completing it? ​ It doesn't mean that every underfarmed opportunity will provide exceptional returns. ​ But it increases the chances of your contribution being valued higher by the project since there's likely a 'skill issue'. _ ​ 3. Expand your wallet's on-chain footprint ​ This is the only way our wallet can stand out from Sybils and whales. ​ A wallet's on-chain footprint is an excellent indicator of the owner's behaviour. ​ This way, a project can choose to reward wallets that have consistently provided value to different communities. ​ Having a good track record (footprint) increases your wallet's standing and makes it easier to qualify for future airdrops. ​ I aim to expand my footprint by being a consistent, power DeFi user: ​ Use protocols as needed or when completing certain campaigns.
