Classroom windows and winter, a short thread - especially for #tdsb buildings. Winter is tough... not only for temperatures, but it's respiratory illness season. So what's the best way to have both a comfortable classroom, and the best ventilation you can? /1

You are in a position to do something about this. Make it clear that it’s airborne. Advocate for N95 masks, clean air and filtration. These deaths are as a result of misinformation that you are supporting by not taking strong, decisive action and modeling the behaviour.

Remembering my dear friend and colleague @DrNadiaChaudhri, who died a year ago today of ovarian cancer. Nadia was a brilliant scientist who dedicated her final days to raising funds to support students from underrepresented backgrounds in neuroscience and psychology. 1/5

It’s an emotional day for many parents of little ones and those who work with littles. So thankful that our youngest daycare and elementary school kiddos in the province can finally have their turn to access this layer of protection. Thank you, Science!!! #ThankfulThursday

As we shift into wave #7, please know #COVIDisAirborne. Share it with your friends and family. When you walk into public spaces, ask about their CO2 levels and efforts to clean indoor air. Everyone deserves to inhale fresh (filtered) air just like they drink filtered water. (1/2)

Engineers raised the entire city of Chicago in the 1850s so they could install a sewage system in response to repeated epidemics of typhoid and cholera, but please tell me again how you don’t believe engineers can retrofit buildings with proper ventilation and filtration in 2022.

Cleaning the air is good business. Good for 'the economy'. Hoping other places learn this lesson. Maybe gov'ts could pay attention too?
Air audits, Hepa Filters and CO2 Monitor were initially expensive, especially while we were constantly in lockdowns and restrictions. But it is already paying off now as we still haven’t had any employees being infected with the virus at work

IMPORTANT: RAPID TESTS DO WORK WITH OMICRON "But why are some people staying negative in the first days they have symptoms??" This is expected. Symptoms don't = contagious virus This is literally a reflection of the fact that vaccines are doing their job! PLEASE READ

Dr Van Kerkhove is a cautious, deeply expert spokesperson for the health authority that is itself known for being conservative. So this is especially important for policy makers. Long Covid is common, can affect those who had mild disease & strike at any age. #LongCovid
"A lot of people that have long COVID have been denied, saying it is in your head, it's not real. Long COVID is real. Long COVID is affecting millions of people." WHO's Dr @mvankerkhove & Dr Abdi Mohamed explain what we know so far about post-#COVID19 condition or long COVID.

We have likely entered a wave driven by the Omicron BA.5 subvariant. Key Messages: - The rise in hospitalizations will likely be smaller than earlier waves, but our hospitals are already very strained. (1/17)
