The US robotaxi fleet on my tracker crossed 6,000 vehicles this month, roughly 2.5x where we sat a year ago. $UBER has committed $10B+ to its AV program and this week it was reported that @Waymo wants to double its fleet to 8,000 by year end 2026 and hit 20,000 by the end of 2027.
Those headlines together frame two things:
1) Robotaxis are finally scaling and
2) Uber is spending to defend against disintermediation.
But I think that framing gets the math backwards. The question everyone keeps asking is "who wins the robotaxi race?", but the question that actually matters for Uber is a lot simpler: Does the rideshare pie get bigger faster than 1P networks take slices of it?
My base case has the US AV fleet reaching 225k vehicles by 2030, which will account for about 17% of the ride-hail fleet doing about 25% of total trips. To be clear this is not a model where Waymo or $TSLA stumble. The 1P networks still end 2030 with 145k vehicles or 64% of the fleet.
Uber goes from under a thousand vehicles on network today to 70k by 2030, which is 31% of the US AV fleet and second only to Waymo. While the aggregators give up share to 1P networks (99% → 85%), the category compounding at 13% means @Uber still compounds trips at 10% a year.
That's true because of three things:
1. The category grows faster with AVs than without them.
2. Humans stay a demand shock absorber that allows Uber to run AV utilization a lot higher.
3. Every AV provider that isn't Waymo/Tesla needs demand.
To be clear, trips are necessary but not sufficient. Hold human trips flat and Uber trip growth is closer to 5% than 10% through 2030.
Uber doesn't need to win the robotaxi race to win the trip math, it needs the pie to keep growing and for there to be successful competitors outside of Waymo and Tesla. @dkhos @_balaji_km

Yes it’s true: a full Chrome exploit was achieved by just 1 researcher + @Xbow ’s AI agents in 6 days with ~$40K of compute! 1B+ users protected, all patched✌️
The takeaway is that elite cyber defense (and offense) is now compute-bound, not talent-bound. Annual security reviews and pen tests can't keep up when software is being updated real-time! XBOW like autonomous white-hat should be mandatory part of your security stack!
Ensure your (digital) doors and windows are locked!

Hadrian x Lockheed x DoW 🇺🇸
Rebuilding America’s defense industrial base requires more than expanding capacity. It requires reinventing how we manufacture.
@HadrianInc is bringing its technology directly onto @LockheedMartin’s factory floor to scale production of our nation’s most critical missile systems.
This is how we rebuild the Arsenal of Freedom.
@SecWar @USDASDuffey @DeptofWar
We’re expanding our partnership with @LockheedMartin.
Under a new seven-year agreement, we’ll bring Hadrian’s advanced manufacturing capabilities directly into Lockheed Martin’s Grand Prairie facility to help scale production across critical missile programs. 🇺🇸

PSA: Update Chrome!
Security is changing fast with AI. Case in point: Chrome. One of the most hardened pieces of software on earth. 3.8 billion users of which 2 B are daily! Google just paid @XBOW for finding a full-chain exploit.
A full-chain exploit lets an attacker take total control of a machine, where they can read every email, password and bank login the user types. You don’t need to download anything or click a phishing link. Visiting the wrong site is enough.
So, please get that update. And secure your browser.
@oegerikus 🙏
For the second time in Google Chrome’s history, Google awarded a $250,000 bounty for a full-chain exploit… to @XBOW. Here’s the full story:
At an all-hands at the start of 2026 in Malta, I set the team a crazy challenge. A full-chain exploit of Chrome by the annual Black Hat cybersecurity conference in August.
I believed there were few better tests of whether @XBOW could move beyond web applications to desktop software, servers and devices.
Chrome is one of the most hardened pieces of software on the planet, used by more than half the world’s population.
A full-chain exploit lets an attacker take total control of a machine, where they can read every email, password and bank login the user types. You don’t need to download anything or click a phishing link. Visiting the wrong site is enough.
So @moyix, Andres Luksenberg, Baul Lee, and Willem Pinckaers took on the challenge along with a fifth teammate: OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol.
They built a chain they thought would win, but Google told us they already knew one of the bugs.
We were already in Las Vegas for Black Hat and DEF CON, and the team didn’t want to go home without the win.
So Brendan and the agents built a new exploit in just 6 days.
We submitted it to Google and waited.
The news came through that we'd done what should’ve been impossible. A full-chain bounty of $250,000, the first awarded under Google’s 2026 rules.
It took just 6 days and $40,000 of compute to construct an exploit that affects a billion users of Chrome on Windows. An intelligence-agency veteran told me his team used to spend 6 months on this kind of vulnerability.
My takeaway: the cost of finding truly critical vulnerabilities is collapsing, for attackers and defenders alike. Restricting powerful models is not the answer; GPT-5.6 Sol is already public.
But defenders have one advantage attackers never will: they can test their own code first.
Assume your software is exploitable. Whoever is hunting your bugs has the same building blocks we did.
This is cause for urgency but not panic.
XBOW is now developing an autonomous product for testing compiled software (desktop applications, servers, embedded devices), and partnering with the world’s top organizations to design that product.
If you’d like to be one of them, get in touch.
P.S. Restart Chrome whenever the Update button appears!

Congrats to CoreWeave team on being first to market with Vera Rubin
3 years ago I met these scrappy guys who claimed they were first to market on H100s, outpacing the hyperscalers by 6mo+ and I was incredulous
Awesome that engineering dna is carrying through today
Replying to @branninmcbee
NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 is now available on CoreWeave, and Cognition is the first customer anywhere running production workloads on it. Cognition’s engineers measured up to 4.8x the total token throughput vs GB200 NVL72 on their SWE-2 inference workloads.

OpenAI serving open-source models through Baseten is a big deal. They are embracing open source.
Until now, OpenAI's pitch was "use our models."
Now it is "commit your annual AI budget to us". We will get you the best model for each job, whether it's ours, someone else's, or open source.
So if you're a large bank looking to commit $100M in AI spend, you centralize with OpenAI. One throat to choke. GPT handles the credit memos. Open-source handles the KYC volume at a fraction of the cost. A post-trained / specialized model handles fraud.
This changes OpenAI's position. It stops competing only on whose model is best this season and starts competing to own the enterprise AI budget. A layer above being just an AI lab.
Also proves AI is positive sum, not zero sum between closed and open source!

Summary of US AI policy ahead of today’s mtgs:
Beat China.
Fast & Safe.
Follow the law.
Act like adults - stop scaring people.
We currently test all frontier models & only country to have sanctioned a model. And we have max open & closed competition.
And we are winning. 🇺🇸🚀
