Just finished participating in a seriously interesting roundtable about defining YA. Huge thanks to Elizabeth Leach-Leung, Emma Tueller Stone, and Daniel Freeman: I genuinely enjoyed our discussion, and am thankful to each of you for broadening my thinking! #YASA2025 #YALit

Currently attempting to ignore my election anger by listening to a fabulous #YASA2025 panel on “Twentieth-Century Serialized Youth Fiction,” featuring Susanne Abou Ghaida, Melanie J. Fishbane, Emily Hamilton-Honey… while simultaneously baking an apple pie. As you do. #YALit

It's day 2 of #YASA2025, and I'm enjoying the thoughtful discussion (and complicated questions) within the roundtable on identity, featuring Harley Tillotson, Shuya Su, Emily Corbett, & Ritwika Roy! #YALit #YAStudies #AcademicChatter
Day 2 of the YASA conference is here! Share in the comments- what are you looking forward to most this week? #YASA2024 #AcademicChatter

If you can see “The Years” at the Almeida in London, GO DO IT. I saw it last night, and I’m obsessed. Also: several men fainted during an earlier preview. I guess the reality of blood and women’s bodies and difficult choices is hard to watch. Anyway, here’s a little thread:🧵

And the tablecloths… it’ll sound ridiculous to anyone who hasn’t seen the play, but I full-on wept at the tablecloths and all the years and experiences they represented. I don’t know who came up with how those tablecloths would be used, but they are brilliant.

There’s so much more to be said about this play! What stood out was the polish: this play was *ready* to be performed. The pacing was quick while allowing for a ritardando in the moments that needed to be explored. The passing of Annie between each of the actors was seamless.

Anyway. It’s probably obvious, but this play affected me in ways that will likely stay with me for some time. I’m thankful to have seen it. P.S. The personal—including, in this case, the communal “we” of women— IS political!

Did not have “throuple” on my Olympic opening ceremony bingo card… 🙊😆

As I always say to anyone who will listen, girls are almost always present in history, sometimes in the most surprising ways. And they also made some cool stuff that can tell us a lot about the past. Great work @IsabellaRosner!
Centuries-old paper cuttings, including a tiny fox and a silky chicken, have been discovered under the floorboards of Sutton House in London, believed to be made by 17th-century students ow.ly/boZ950SCjgq

This is Not Okay.
Just found out that Taylor & Francis has sold access to all @routledgebooks data to Microsoft to train their AI. This includes my publications. I get no payment for using my research labour, never mind the bigger problems of this energy-intensive extractivism...

Sometimes I’d just like to be a small cat hanging out on my London rooftop, surveying my sunset domain.
