Becky Drury, a teacher at Silver Rail Elementary who was shot and wounded during the deadly mass shooting in Bend, Oregon, shared a statement recalling what she remembered from the shooting.
"I turned to shut the door behind me, but the shooter was already there. Before I could do anything more, he shot me at close range and I fell to the ground," Drury said.
"I did the only thing I could do, which was to pretend to be dead in the hope he would not shoot me again."

Today, there are two court hearings happening related to Camp Mystic where 28 people died in the July 2025 floods, including 27 campers and counselors.
In Kerr County a judge will be listening to arguments about and possibly ruling on whether digital data can be utilized in the Texas Rangers' criminal investigation into the Kerr County camp.
A hour after that hearing starts we are anticipating learning if a trustee or independent fiduciary will be put in charge of overseeing the camp's Chapter 11 bankruptcy case. We will be following both for @KHOU.

A criminal inquiry is underway after a 19-year-old Louisiana State University student posted on social media last month claiming she was raped by an LSU football player. Earlier this year, a Title IX investigation found the football player responsible for forcible rape, but he remains on campus playing for the LSU football team.
