We are ready for trilateral talks between technical groups, which must yield a concrete result. The Americans asked me, “What specifics do you want?” I said, “Look, can the war end in November during a meeting of the technical group?” Without the leaders, it cannot be fully ended. Okay, if that is not possible, then give us an energy ceasefire, the sea, grain, an all-for-all exchange, or a meeting of leaders. Of course, that is a result. A result is an opportunity. Energy, grain, people – these are concrete things, while a meeting at the level of leaders is an opportunity to have something concrete after our trilateral. This is what we are asking for and proposing. We are not demanding it, but proposing it to the American side. Then that would show seriousness. But if this is just a political trick and Putin is simply saying, “Yes, I’m ready,” because he does not want escalation with America before the elections, then we will see very quickly in November whether it was a trick or not. The American side proposed a ceasefire regime in the Oleshky area starting October 27. Because this cannot be just one day. It will last several days. Humanitarian missions must come there: the Americans, us, and the Russians. The Russians must clear the roads of mines, and we must see this and work on all of it there. I have given the Ombudsman the relevant instructions. We have also spoken with the Security Service and the military. Of course, Russia will do everything to demine the roads in such a way that these people go to Russia and stay there. They are not going to simply set people free. And some people will be evacuated to Ukraine one way or another – to the part we control. The main thing is to free these people from the blockade so they can live. Ideally, they should be able to achieve their goal and evacuate here, to us, to Ukraine, which will provide them with everything they need and support them. 🇷🇸🇪🇺 Goodbye, Putin. Putin has just lost another ally in Europe: Serbia. In the same year, he loses both Orbán and Serbia. The student-backed list is projected to win an outright parliamentary majority. The entire Balkans, Eastern Europe and Central Asia will be in Europe’s orbit. Whether you like it or not, Moscow.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Russian forces just launched a massive attack on a thermal power plant that belongs to DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private energy company. The power plant has now stopped generating electricity. While I was in Ukraine in July, I saw this side of Russia's war against Ukraine with my own eyes. After driving back from Kharkiv, where I passed gas stations that had been destroyed in recent Russian drone strikes, I visited a @dtek_en power substation outside of Kyiv that Russian forces have been working to destroy since 2022. Despite multiple missile attacks, Ukrainians rebuilt the facility and got it back up and running. The purpose of the visit was to understand how Russia is systematically targeting Ukraine's critical energy infrastructure. The Russians attack not just military sites, but the systems ordinary people rely on every day to keep the lights on. On the way to the substation, there was an air raid alert. We immediately had to follow the site's emergency protocol because Russia continues targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure. We immediately rushed into a bomb shelter beneath a nearby school as the sound of explosions could be heard nearby. The safest place we could seek shelter was inside the bomb shelter for a local school that is next to DTEK, because Ukrainian children have to hide there whenever Russia launches missiles and drones. These kids aren't on a battlefield. They're trying to go to school. This wasn't a drill. I experienced firsthand what it's like to have your day interrupted because Russia is trying to terrorize an entire country. I met with the energy workers and grid operators who keep Ukraine's lights on. They told me about the brutal attacks on their energy grid last winter, how Russia deliberately tried to leave millions of civilians without heat and electricity, and why they're worried about the coming winter, especially if Ukraine doesn't urgently receive enough air defense. What struck me most was their patriotism. Each of these workers understands they could become a target simply by going to work. Yet, they keep showing up, because they believe keeping the lights on in Ukraine is part of defending their country from Putin’s aggression. Americans should pay attention to what's happening and how Putin is terrorizing Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Ukraine's experience is a reminder that energy security is national security. Critical infrastructure can become a battlefield, and protecting it is essential for any nation. There is a lot we can learn from Ukraine. WATCH my full interview at DTEK here: 👇🏻

WTF, Steve? Look up the definition of “humanitarian.” What an embarrassing and outrageous thing to say. You should go back to Ukraine and ask the families of the children Putin has kidnapped and murdered whether they agree your friend Putin is a “humanitarian.”
Steve Witkoff to Putin: You talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian. You are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that, I commend you, and I thank you again.

from the Ukrainian winner of the Nobel peace prize
I have read dozens of outraged posts because the US special envoy Witkoff called Putin a "humanist." But no one is writing about the fact that the American negotiators are simply not doing their job. Let me explain. Peace negotiations are important in their own right. Even if they do not lead to a lasting peace, the process itself is an opportunity to resolve urgent humanitarian issues. If, of course, the human dimension is a priority for the negotiators. But it is entirely obvious that neither Witkoff nor Kushner cares about people's fates in this war. The Pope calls on Putin to save thousands of people from starvation in occupied Oleshky and the surrounding villages. The UN speaks about a humanitarian catastrophe and asks Russia to allow the evacuation of the civilian population. European Parliament Vice-President Pina Picierno goes on a hunger strike to draw attention to this tragedy unfolding before the eyes of the whole world. And what are Witkoff and Kushner doing? That's right, almost nothing. Except for passing along greetings from Putin’s aide to the First Lady. Thousands of people are already eating grass to survive and begging to save their lives. The Ukrainian side raises the issue of Oleshky at every meeting. And I can name dozens of such urgent humanitarian issues off the top of my head where American negotiators must be proactive. Trump’s peace negotiations have already gone down in history as the deadliest years for Ukraine’s civilian population since the start of the full-scale invasion. I don’t know if anyone will remember the names of Witkoff and Kushner. But history will certainly record how American negotiators, who had the opportunity to save a huge number of people, refused to raise uncomfortable questions before "humanist Putin."

🚨 The whole world needs to hear these words from Zelenskyy: “Of course, we are not losing this war, but we are losing people and time. And it's heartbreaking, because our children don't have a normal life, they don't have a childhood,” says the Ukrainian president, whose country is now experiencing something that feels very much like betrayal.

Support to Ukraine is and remains Sweden’s foremost foreign policy priority, and this is reflected in every call I have with @andrii_sybiha. As long as the Russian aggression continues, Sweden will remain committed to our two-point plan: more support to Ukraine and increased pressure on Russia.
I had a productive call with my Swedish colleague @MariaStenergard. Grateful to Sweden for its steadfast support and particularly for its leadership in advancing the full use of frozen Russian assets for Ukraine. Russia must pay for its aggression. We followed up on last week’s productive EU Foreign Affairs Council, which delivered important sanctions decisions and reinforced Europe’s determination to maintain pressure on Russia. We also discussed the next steps following last week’s meeting between President @ZelenskyyUa and @SwedishPM Ulf Kristersson. A particular focus was strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and protecting our skies against relentless Russian attacks. I am grateful to Sweden for its unwavering support.

Another Russian ballistic missile attack came in several waves overnight, and once again, there was no early warning from our partners. They again targeted energy facilities and infrastructure, but a medical clinic, a school, a metro station, and ordinary residential buildings were also damaged. In total, the Russians launched 16 ballistic missiles in a deliberate attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The Russians also launched more than 200 drones of various types, including jet-powered “shaheds,” with attacks spanning from the Kharkiv and Dnipro regions to the Volyn, Rivne, and Odesa regions. Sadly, there are casualties. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Those who were injured are receiving assistance. Overnight and this morning, Russia attacked energy facilities in the Vinnytsia, Volyn, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Odesa, and Rivne regions. In this one night alone, more than 10 energy infrastructure facilities were damaged, and the lights went out for at least 550,000 families. Repair crews are working at the sites. Ukraine never wanted this war, and we have welcomed literally EVERY attempt by our partners to bring this war to a dignified end. We have responded positively to EVERY ceasefire proposal. Russia's response, time and again, has been ballistic missiles, “shaheds,” and killings. Putin not only doesn't want to end this war – he doesn't even want to take any steps toward de-escalation. EVERY ONE of our partners has experienced this firsthand when they heard Russia's refusals. And it is crucial to call things what they are. To call the aggressor an aggressor and help Ukraine defend lives. When deliveries of missiles for Ukraine's air defense are blocked while Russia is granted relief or delays in sanctions, this is, unfortunately, a denial of reality on the part of our partners. The reality is that the war continues, and it continues solely because of Russian strikes and Russia's desire to drag this war out. I thank everyone who recognizes this reality and helps Ukraine!
