🇺🇸🇨🇦 Did you know that US Green Card Holders can travel to Canada without a visitor visa or eTA regardless of their nationality?
Just carry a valid passport and your US🇺🇸Green Card. You can usually stay for up to six months, depending on the decision of Canadian border officers.
🇺🇸 If you’re on a student visa or you’re planning OPT, comments on proposed OPT fee close November 9, 2026. A weekly roundup reports that it would charge $70,000 to start OPT. This is only a proposal. OPT has not changed yet.

🇦🇺 If you’re in Australia on a 407 Training Visa, from 12 November 2026, you must apply for a new 407 from outside Australia. Onshore applications lodged from that date will be invalid. If you lodge by November 11, you will stay under the old rules.

🇩🇪 Germany Immigration Update: 14,324 people were deported between January and September 2026. That's about 19% fewer than the same period last year. Turkey 🇹🇷 was the top destination, with 2,025 deportations. These are official figures, not a new immigration rule.

🇳🇴 If you have Norwegian citizenship or permanent residency, a group called LIN wants Norway to introduce a 10-year limit on revoking status obtained using false information. There is currently no time limit. The group is submitting its petition today.

🇩🇪 Heads up if you applied for Germany’s Opportunity Residence, the latest figures from the end of September, show 91,116 permits were granted but only 40% of them had secured a longer-term residence
Another 27,763 were still waiting for decisions. A court in Hesse has also ruled that pending cases won’t automatically be decided under the old rules.

According to Statewatch, the EU passed its new Return Regulation on October 1. The part about “return hubs” kicks in as soon as it’s officially published, and most of the other rules start a year after that.👇
