Happy National Author’s Day! 📚✨ Today, we celebrate the incredible minds who’ve crafted the stories, ideas, and worlds we love. Did you know? 🤔 National Author’s Day began in 1928 thanks to Nellie Verne Burt McPherson, a passionate reader and president of the Bement, Illinois Women’s Club. While recovering from World War I in a 🏥 hospital bed, Nellie spent her time immersed in books, one of her favorites being Eben Holden’s Last Day A’ Fishin’ by Irving Bacheller. When she reached out to him with a letter of appreciation, he responded with a signed book, and this heartfelt exchange inspired Nellie to propose a day dedicated to honoring authors. In 1929, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs endorsed the idea, passing a resolution to recognize November 1st as a day to honor American authors. Then, in 1949, the U.S. Department of Commerce officially declared National Author’s Day. 📅 Let’s celebrate the authors who’ve shaped our lives—whether on a screen or a well-loved paperback. Cherish their legacy, own the stories, and dive into a world created by words. 📚✨ #NationalAuthorsDay #Books #Authors #OGBOOKCLUB
