And just like that,
Bipolar depression.
-No desire to get out of bed, only feeling able to once it turns dark
- Taking an exceptional amount to even get up to do mundane tasks
- Hygiene going out of the window. Ashamed to say I’ve not washed for 4 days nor brushed my teeth 1/2

Well, yesterday was a bit of a shitshow.
I fell out of my wheelchair, hurt my foot and landed rather spectacularly on my arse. Not ideal, but hardly worthy of a medical emergency…. except less than ten minutes later, I was unconscious and being blue-lighted into hospital. I know. Whopper.
It wasn’t because of my foot, mind you… Nooo. It was my adrenal glands.
I have something called #AddisonsDisease which means those two little glands above your kidneys don’t produce cortisol. And if you didn’t know, cortisol is rather bloody important. As in, you literally cannot stay alive without it. So… I take steroids every day to do the job my adrenal glands have apparently resigned from.
The trouble is, when healthy people get injured, ill or stressed, their bodies automatically produce extra cortisol. Mine? Nope… nothing. “You’re on your own, love.” Aaaand suddenly a little tumble becomes a life-threatening adrenal crisis.
Blood pressure plummets, consciousness disappears, and without an emergency hydrocortisone injection, things can go very badly wrong rather quickly.
But here’the really upsetting part.
The life-saving injection we need to use, isn’t ready to use!
Nay nay nay… no speedy pen, or pre-filled syringes here. You have to open a little glass ampoule of sterile water, draw the liquid into a syringe, inject it into a separate vial containing powdered hydrocortisone, gently mix and WAIT until the powder dissolves, then draw the medication back into the syringe. After that, you need to fit the appropriate IM needle, prepare the injection site and inject it deep into a muscle, usually your thigh.
All whilst vomiting, shaking, and usually losing consciousness.
I mean, who on earth thought that was a sensible idea?!
I’ve got to a point now, where I’ve resorted to preparing syringes in advance, despite knowing the risks, and the reduce efficacy… because something is better than nothing. And let’s face it… when you’re partially unconscious, your chemistry skills are somewhat limited.
All joking aside though, the sobering reality of this is that research suggests around 1 in 200 people with adrenal insufficiency die from adrenal crisis each and every year. A statistic that should enrage us.
I’m not telling you this for sympathy. I’m telling you because we desperately need as much awareness to campaign for safer emergency medication that’s actually easy to administer in an emergency.
I was lucky yesterday. I got the treatment I needed, and I’m still here to have a good moan about it. But not everyone gets to tell their story afterwards.
I wonder how many people have died with everything they needed to survive sitting right beside them.
#AddisonsDisease @AddisonsUK
I never considered that spending a lot of time in research mode over-researching is actually productive avoidance.
Mind blown… ⏳💭🤯

Well, well, well...
80% of "donations" to Nigel Farage’s party are from donors or companies based overseas.
This is not normal.
And the public deserves to know what these super-rich donors want back in return.
Today, Thames Water’s creditors are deciding whether to hand over a £2.4 billion bailout. Rewarding water companies for their failure will affect billpayers across the country, during a cost of living crisis.
@andyburnham *Please* block the bailout and let them go bust! @We_OwnIt

100 days ago, I promised to do things differently.
From cutting everyday costs to handing power back to communities, change is already underway.
But I know there’s much more to do - this is just the beginning.

🚨 WATCH: John Healey says his Budget today will give people "fresh hope" for the future
:): Ramblings of me, myself and mind retweeted
🚨 NEW: John Healey is set to announce the following in his Budget later
- The gas standing charge will be scrapped to save £27 a year on a typical bill
- Green levies on energy bills will be scraped "for good"
- NHS prescription charges will be frozen at £9.90 for another year
- Poorer households on benefits will receive extra help with energy bills before January's sharp rises
- The VAT cut on electricity bills, which was due to expire in April, will be extended (though it's not clear if this will be announced in the Budget or separately)
- The Government will remove the link between gas and electricity prices, which currently inflates household bills, "in the long term"
- Banks will face higher taxes, with the surcharge on their profits potentially rising from 3% to 8%, making it the Budget’s biggest revenue raiser
- HMRC will be given powers to seize money from the bank accounts of people who fail to pay their tax
- The freeze on rail fares will reportedly not be extended beyond April
- Online retailers like Amazon, eBay and Temu will be made responsible for collecting unpaid VAT from sellers to fund a cut in business rates for high street shops
- The thresholds for income tax will be frozen again so another half a million people may be dragged into the higher rate
- January's planned increase in fuel duty will be cancelled
- Pensioners relying solely on the state pension will see their tax-free allowance rise to £13,036, in line with the pension increase, so they don't pay income tax
- Billions in long-term borrowing to invest in defence firms and raise the share of GDP spent on defence (without breaking fiscal rules, as the investments are expected to generate returns)
- The upcoming "Your First Home" scheme will be made more generous to provide greater support for middle-income earners
- The Budget will also assume the Rosebank oil field is approved, which will generate "significant tax revenues"
Strange, but when physically unwell during a bipolar depression, I almost always feel better mentally. Maybe the physical pain and symptoms act as a circuit breaker and shift the focus from a ruminative mind? I’m not complaining either way!

I can’t believe this is a thing. I know those in the private sector can negotiate salary. As a public service/charity worker all my life, his has never impacted me 😂 In all seriousness though, it’s a good thing!

🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham has announced five "everyday fixes" ahead of the Budget
1. Carer's Allowance will be changed so carers no longer lose their entire benefit when they earn over the limit - instead, their support will reduce by £1 for every extra £1 they earn
2. Import tariffs will be removed on more than 100 products, including baked beans, chocolate and gherkins, to save households up to £21 on their food shop a year
3. Tax-free mileage rates for workers using their own cars will be made permanent at 55p per mile for the first 10,000 miles, with the rate for additional miles rising from 25p to 35p
4. Parental pay will be extended to over 150,000 more parents a year, including self-employed fathers and partners
5. Hundreds more Post Office drop boxes will be rolled out to save people queueing at branches
💧 💼 💰 Water companies want to be rewarded for their failures with even more of customers’ money.
We need to stop the bill hikes and let them go bust! 🪧🚫💸📈
