WICKER
A tasty delight of how we can work & love better for our partners. It's quirky humor doesn't always land and almost overshadows its darker ideas of loveless marriages. But it's terrific ensemble, incredible costume design & seductive sound design are a real treat
BRIAN
Ben Wang reshapes the underdog story with a phenomenal role of what high school alienation actually feels like. Hysterical joke per second that always keeps a tender observation of the frustration that comes from internal anger & anxiety. A new pivotal coming of age charmer
THE SWALLOW
Grimy drive-in cinema that patiently executes its gross out practical effects playing into a fear of a very specific slow death. It never strays away from a straight forward but nerve wracking premise. Grace Van Dien has the charm leading a pack of exciting new talent
RIVER
This freaking rocked! A heart racing old school slasher that's a got a wonderfully nasty edge. Jessica Rothe & Jane Levy are a terrific duo moving in on family bond under tragedy. Joshua Giuliano's patient directing pays off in every intense fright & brutal outcome. So fun!
Saw The Devils and slowly starting to process the madness. What I will say is Michael Gothard plays Father Barre in a way that I can only describe as if Keith Moon ran on set. Wild stuff
So taken by ONCE UPON A TIME IN HARLEM. Intoxicating in its discussion of artistry and mesmerizing as it travels deeper into the party showing truth of human behavior and our ability to connect while still standing firm on one's own opinion. Brilliant stuff
Crystal Lake show is bloody goofy fun and I love that they've decided to give first kills Barry & Claudette a full backstory because why not
LA BOLA NEGRA
Los Javis control a stellar production of historical pain & love. Stunning in its incorporation of musical guidance as it helps each soul. Guitarricadelafuente is outstanding. Script struggles in its sporadic nature often hand feeding some pivotal emotional moments
4DX was made for Whalefall. A fun rollercoaster of a film with the occasional gnarly body horror. Austin Abrams is a delight but it's also a film that just about overstays its welcome as its survival thrill & emotional beats don't always balance causing some tedious behavior
STREET FIGHTER
Goofy fun that works only due to a lovable & committed cast led by Noah Centineo bringing 90s charm. Callina Liang rules as Chun Li. Rushed editing makes it all feel poorly assembled from a lack of tournament to abrupt sequel bait. Enjoyable but greatly forgettable
LOVE OF YOUR LIFE
Snuck up on me emotionally in ways I wasn't prepared. Rachel Morrison paints a heart aching look at love on love's terms. Gorgeous cinematography & score. It's cut at the legs leaving much to be desired but Margaret Qualley & Aaron Pierre are easy to fall for
Already so won over by Lisa & Tommy in VisionQuest. Ruaridh Mollica & Lauren Morais are wonderful together and I need both of them to be big stars
213 BONES is a bloody fun throwback slasher that plays like the Scooby Doo Mystery Gang heads off to college.

the only thing that piques my interest for the Magician's Nephew trailer is how much they had to pay to use Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven"
the most beautiful film of the year, Georgia Oakley's SENSE AND SENSIBILITY is a stunning portrayal of sisterhood, true love and knowing your worth. A remarkable adaptation that strikes your heart soothing into the stunning backdrop of nature

There's a new V/H/S/ on shudder just in time for Halloween...unfortunately it's quite bad. A series known for its hits & misses has overstayed its welcome losing focus on what once made this a great stepping stone for new filmmakers
