People will read what this my brother from Enugu wrote and think it’s a joke, but I actually wrote something along this line today and deleted it. One of the hardest things to do right now is to find a girl who won’t bill you, asking for money to solve one problem or another within the first three days of meeting you. My best friend, who is 36, has been single, and I’ve been trying to see how I can matchmake him with someone. So, I connected him with a lady I met on Instagram whom I thought was cool. Before I connected them, the girl was already planning a vacation to another country. Just two days after they started talking, she was already calling him to complain about how she needed an extra day at her hotel and needed money for it. Now, my friend is just like me. Even though we have money, we don’t believe we have to spend it on people’s stupidity, aka billing. So, he simply told her, “Hey, I didn’t budget for this. We only just started talking.” Do you know what happened next? This is a girl who had been calling him every single day. But immediately he told her he didn’t budget for it, she stopped calling. For more than three days now, she hasn’t called him again. I just told my friend to move on. I will connect him with someone else. And this is exactly the problem. You meet someone today, and before you even get to know each other, you’re already bringing your financial problems to him to solve. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to know who genuinely wants to get to know you and who simply sees you as an opportunity to solve their financial problems.
