WE ARE NOT DONE. We do not get to choose the chapter in our long history we are born into, but we do get to choose what kind of ancestor we will become. This April 24 evidences, with shocking clarity, that the genocide against the Armenian people was not an incident, but is an ongoing process that has not, and will not, end -- until it is confronted completely and no longer appeased. My remarks at the Washington DC Armenian Genocide Commemoration:

Artsakh Information Headquarters (AIH) releases statement: "According to the Constitution of the Republic of Artsakh, no official, including the head of state, is authorized to dissolve the republic." Full Statement: Regarding the statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia on April 5: “Following the publication of the decree on the forced displacement of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh and the dissolution of Nagorno-Karabakh, the issue is no longer part of the agenda for the regulation of inter-state relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan,” we find it necessary to emphasize that this statement has no legal basis and is an unsuccessful attempt to divert public attention from real issues. After the forced displacement, the authorities of Artsakh exercised restraint, aiming to avoid unnecessary speculations and interethnic tensions. However, the continued silence in response to provocative statements in the information space has led to justified dissatisfaction among the public. It turns out that the MFA of Armenia, by referring to a document that has never existed in the legal framework of Artsakh, simultaneously ignores the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and laws of Artsakh — acting similarly in terms of its obligations toward Artsakh and its people, including as a guarantor of security. According to the Constitution of Artsakh, no official, including the head of state, is authorized to dissolve the republic. Therefore, no one can dissolve a state that was established by a nationwide referendum. The bearer of that authority is its people, and that authority is inseparable from them. The so-called decree on the dissolution of Artsakh was signed under dire conditions caused by Azerbaijan’s attack. At that time, Artsakh was left alone against the overwhelmingly superior military forces of the adversary, with Azerbaijani assault units invading Stepanakert, districts and other towns, all interstate roads controlled by them, most of the Defense Army encircled, and there was a direct threat of physical extermination of soldiers and the peaceful population of Artsakh. Moreover, there was an urgent need to open the sole road connecting to Armenia, which had been blocked by Azerbaijan, to ensure safe evacuation of the people of Artsakh. The document repeatedly cited by certain Armenian circles cannot be considered legal, as it was unconstitutional. It also violated Artsakh’s Law on “Normative Legal Acts,” which states such acts take effect within the specified timeframe, but not before the day after official publication—unless the law explicitly provides for immediate effect. Article 28 of the aforementioned law also stipulates that legal acts are to be published on the Unified Website for Publication of Normative Legal Acts. The so-called decree, as a document, was never published on the official unified legal acts platform and was not officially released. Instead, in response to a request from the Azerbaijani side, a press statement was issued through AIH’s media pages. This cannot be considered an official publication of the document. Considering the potential for future manipulation, days after relocating to Yerevan, President Samvel Shahramanyan issued a decree on the same platform declaring the September 26, 2023 decree invalid. Its prior non-publication was also due to various circumstances on our part. Given these facts, the MFA of Armenia has no legal obstacle to including the issue of Artsakh and its displaced indigenous population in the agenda for managing inter-state relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. For that purpose, we are ready to provide Armenia’s government with all relevant supporting documents and, if necessary, to make them public. We again call on all parties to refrain from exploiting a document that has never existed within the legal framework of Artsakh.

Even LeBron James couldn’t help but comment on the Khatchikian brothers’ historic performance, asking to see footage of their record-breaking game on SportsCenter’s post. In Armenian Mesrobian School’s commanding 119-25 win over Waverly, Nick Khatchikian scored an incredible 102 points in just 22 minutes, breaking the all-time California high school scoring record. This achievement ties for the 16th highest single-game total in U.S. high school basketball history and makes Nick the first Californian to score 100+ points since 2003. He accomplished this on an impressive 48/60 shooting, with 79 points by halftime. Meanwhile, Dylan Khatchikian tied the national record with 35 assists, added 13 steals, and completed a triple-double with 15 rebounds—all without scoring. The Khatchikian brothers’ extraordinary performances have cemented their place in basketball history.

Statement by Ruben Vardanyan, Armenian Political Prisoner Illegally Incarcerated in Azerbaijan (conveyed to his family during his weekly phone call) January 16, 2025 I would like to address the global community, to those who care about what is happening in our region, those opposed to religious persecution worldwide and those who wish for a lasting and genuine peace. I, Ruben Vardanyan, have been detained at the Detention Center of the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan since September 27, 2023 – more than 470 days in total, including 340 days in solitary confinement and 23 days in a punishment cell. I would like to make an official statement before the start of the trial. If you are reading these words, it means that I have exhausted all other means to convey the truth about what is happening here. A court hearing of my case is scheduled for January 17 at 3:00 PM. I have been informed that I am facing 42 charges, some of which carry sentences up to life imprisonment. However, I have not been granted the opportunity to fully review the official indictment. My lawyer and I were merely allowed to skim through 422 volumes of the case files, all written solely in theAzerbaijani language, which I do not understand, within a very short timeframe – from December 9, 2024, to January 8, 2025. I only received the list of charges in Russian on January 8, 2025. Moreover, pressure has been exerted on me, my lawyer, and my interpreter to force us to backdate and sign documents, including falsified protocols and records of interrogations that never took place. I officially declare: I have given no testimony since the day of my arrest, except during the first interrogation, where I only stated my name and surname. Let me reiterate: all protocols bearing my signature are falsifications. These documents do not exist in reality. My lawyer and interpreter were coerced into signing these documents. I once again reiterate and state my complete innocence and the innocence of my Armenian compatriots also being held as political prisoners and demand an immediate end to this politically motivated case against us. Despite our innocence and the political motivation of this trial, it is most likely that the prosecutor will ignore my plea and pursue a trial against us, in which case I demand and ask for your support in ensuring that I am afforded the following: 1. Allow me and my lawyer adequate time and opportunity to prepare for my defense. In particular, provide us with the opportunity to thoroughly review the case materials in a language I understand. 2. Eliminate all procedural violations and falsifications. Specifically, deem inadmissible all falsified documents and records of interrogations that never took place, as I have not provided any testimony since the day of my arrest. 3. Make my trial, and those of the Armenian political prisoners, public. I insist on the most open trial possible, with the participation of international journalists and representatives of humanitarian organizations. 4. Consolidate my case with the cases of the others accused. More than 400 of the 422 volumes in my case concern episodes from the general case of which only 6 are specifically related to false accusations against me. Separating my case into a separate proceeding is an artificial and unfounded decision. I bear no anger or hatred. On the contrary, I genuinely empathize with all those who violate laws, moral principles, and the teachings of the Quran and other holy texts. I am convinced that true peace will only be possible when the leaders of the countries involved in the conflict, with the support of their societies, can come together to lay flowers on the graves of all those who perished in this war. I promise to do everything possible to ensure this happens during my lifetime. As the great Mahatma Gandhi said, the only way to save the world from self-destruction is to live by the principles of nonviolence, truth, and love. Through compassion for all people, regardless of their skin color, nationality, or religion, we can achieve true peace. Thank you all for your support! I love and thank you all for your kindness toward me. Know that I am standing strong and believe that the truth will prevail. Ruben Vardanyan

As the victims of the 1990 January 13 state-sponsored pogroms[1] in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, are being commemorated, the trial of sixteen Armenian hostages —POWs and political prisoners— held in Baku is scheduled for 17 January 2025. #FreeArmenianHostages

Thank you @KimKardashian @esrailian, the Armenian Diaspora SHOULD NOT be silent.
Please share! This report is by @MorenoOcampo1 - former Chief Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court. He argues Azerbaijan’s blockade of the Lachin corridor should be considered a genocide against the ethnic Armenians of Artsakh/Nagorno-Karabakh. Read & share the report!

A reminder of the sick and twisted depths of Bob Livingston's #Armenian #Genocide denial. He taped this video (2007) full of venom and lies - which @ANCA_DC deconstructed point by point.

The US concept is you can be of any faith and culture you want, and it won't matter one bit, bc the ultimate neutrality is money, and mainstream worship of money will corrupt and assimilate your kids no matter their roots 😍
