I said in an interview when Beck&Stone was beginning to breakthrough that “I know, yes, we're a small team… But McKinsey also used to be small. They just had very smart people who were able to go and were able to focus on something and work through those issues and then move on.
“The value proposition of consulting is that we will actually get our hands dirty. You have to be very diligent in terms of the tactical execution of what you are proposing. And then your reputation lives or dies based upon: Did your plan work? Was your diagnosis correct? Did you help resolve it? This doesn't exist any more at a larger scale.”
When we crossed into a “medium-sized” company, leadership’s goal has been keep us working small while thinking big: utilizing the full resources of the company but working hard and fast within your unit. Some things simply don’t scale well and groups of people working together are one of them.
There are a few things that Manidis and Roberts get exactly right.
Small firms will achieve outcomes completely disproportionate to their headcount. These “raiding party” sized groups will outperform at a shocking scale. The countries that rose through the outsourcing of backoffices will fall as those jobs evaporate into the algo. Call center countries reduced to scam hovels.
Scarce, permanent assets will be the holy grail of the AI economy. Assets that cannot be vibe-coded, that will grow under AI dominance rather than shrink. These will often be "rails", physical sites, or “nation-state” assets like a power grid, a copper mine, or a strategic landmass.
“The fourth settlement is one sympathetic to great men and leaves little room for labor as you know it.” This is one of the best lines in the piece and a nice key to the next few decades. If you told people two hundred years ago that labor would be abolished, they would be stoked. Today they whine, “don’t take my toil, let me listen to a pod while I type.”
Inevitably, some of the predictions in the piece will miss. Where this is the case, I think it will be a result of the authors' sheer proximity to the center. Too near to the fire, lobotomized by the Flow. NYC and SF crowds are certain that their world is the only one. A perennial solipsism dominates both bubbles, a gravitational pull that Manidis and Roberts (and the friendly ghost of Leopold Aschenbrenner) are not immune to. The authors argue that all capital will be made subservient to the Line. The Line must go up. AI must continue its march, even irrationally, to prevent massive capital destruction of all that has come before.
But outside of the epicenters, the people have no allegiance to the Line. My brother in Idaho has no allegiance to the Line. Your friend who bartends in Orlando has no allegiance to the Line. For the Leopolds in SF and the FO boys on wall street, it may be their only reality, their existence and work and net worth but the everyman has not corrupted his mind with expectations of winning the final gluttonous end times tech lottery. He has no allegiance to the Line.
Manidis and Roberts argue that the populace will be tied via pensions, equities, and trump accounts to the success of AI, but I don’t see that that coupling has truly taken place yet.
Downstream of this, I still don't see the US nationalizing the AI labs. The labs tried hard but the critical moment has come and gone. The administration has already decided that it is intolerable to be equity partners with Altman or Dario. Some will live and some will die. As long as boomers have a blood in their veins, they'll cling to their free-markets while the groypers and DSA kids would rather see recession than the tech oligarchs and bankers enriched in victory.
Where does this take us? Coming years will be dominated by powerful firms in the private sector and great men, value will accrue to assets that are scarce and durable, companies will act more like countries. Will and Joe are going to make some killer, generational investments during this era.
Thanks to Will and Joe for writing and giving people something think about and to shoot at. I saw some folks complain that the piece is too grim or apocalyptic. I blame the popularization of end times biblical language by the one paypal co-founder. The future that the bible actually predicts is much more interesting. One of the inevitable victory of christendom–––the past and future conquest of Christ over all. Shaping the victorious timeline is our ultimate duty and opportunity.

Robert and I are thrilled that our gift of over 2 million shares of SpaceX stock will be distributed to children’s Trump accounts in December!
Our initial gift (shares transferring to escrow as we speak) will go to 11 to 17-year-olds who live in zip codes with median family income (MFI) of $57,000 or less, and to those who live in zip codes with too few residents for an MFI to be reported in the census. These families should receive a notice by Monday.
In a few weeks, an additional gift will be finalized for eligible 11 to 17-year-old children in military families serving overseas, children in foster care, and more children whose MFI is $90,000 or less living in counties near our home in the great state of Texas.
Thank you to the incredible team @SpaceX, @Treasury, @IRS, @DellFdn, @GreaterHorizons, @InvestAmerica24, and the legal firms of Morgan Lewis and Gibson Dunn for working over the past few months to make this happen.
We are deeply grateful for the groundbreaking work that Brad Gerstner @altcap and @MichaelDell have done for the long-term financial security for millions of kids.
God Bless America!

BREAKING: For the first time in American history, the Department of Energy has approved a commercial nuclear microreactor's safety analysis for full-power operations.
LA-based Radiant secured the approval, with testing planned at Idaho National Laboratory.

Totally false, Steve. USAID is not funding anything. It’s closing out contracts & shuttering the agency.
BANNON: We haven’t cut off USAID. Don’t let anybody believe we’ve done that. They’re still pouring money all over the country.
OMB, @russvought, we love you, brother. Where are my rescissions on USAID?
If Congress doesn’t have enough balls to do it, how come OMB doesn’t have enough balls to do it?
We’ve got to get serious about this. We’re not serious.

This is such a great, common-sense idea. I remember Palmer Luckey talking about this a few years ago, wondering whether it could be done at a competitive price point, while a lot of people were like, “What for?”
Now Anduril and Qualcomm are actually doing it — rebuilding an American computer manufacturing capability and reducing our dependence on Chinese supply chains.
And they’re doing it with their own money. Bravo.

Thank you, @calleymeans, for your vision, leadership, and relentless drive to reform our food system and make our children healthy again. You challenged the status quo and pushed Washington to confront the forces driving childhood chronic disease. Your work has left an indelible mark.
Thank you, President Trump and the White House team for championing the MAHA agenda and supporting our work to protect children’s health.

The collective experience of young men in this country is thinking “I can do something” and someone just like this lady immediately does everything in their power to make it impossible to do.
That’s what our current national stagnation really comes down to in the end.

American-made products are not impossible. Stories about iPhones costing $37,000 or laptops costing $100,000 are psy-ops, sometimes pushed by foreign adversaries but more commonly by American corporations that want anything but an upset to the status quo.
Palmer Luckey says companies are exaggerating the cost of American manufacturing to justify staying in China: “They don’t want to admit that it is a choice.” 🇺🇸🇨🇳
“I don’t have a lot of sympathy for people who pretend that manufacturing in the U.S. is this impossible, order-of-magnitude problem. A lot of it is very self-serving.
They want to justify why they’re in China. They want to justify why it’s OK for them to stay in China. They know that when sanctions hit as a result of a potential Taiwan conflict, they want to say, ‘Nobody could’ve predicted this, and I had no choice anyway.’
They don’t want to admit that it is a choice.
If Chinese subsidized steel is a third of the price of American unsubsidized steel, a tariff isn’t going to work. But if the price difference really is 30%, then a tariff could bring the American steel industry back.
It’s critically important to get this question right, and there aren’t enough people talking about it.”

Look what happens when you shut down USAID & people wise up to election fraud & the globalist-leftist-Islamic takeover of their countries & culture. It is a big “no thank you” from most people.

Proud to work with my Pennsylvania colleagues to deliver this federal funding for the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Westmoreland County.
I applaud the Trump Administration for their continued investments into southwestern Pennsylvania.
Westmoreland County hasn’t had a commercial flight since May.
Great news. @SenFettermanPa, @GReschenthaler, and I worked together to secure $850,000 in federal funding to help attract a new carrier to Arnold Palmer Regional Airport. Nobody in Latrobe should have to drive to Pittsburgh just to fly to Myrtle Beach.

Today we celebrate the feast of St. Longinus — the Roman centurion who pierced Jesus’ side.
Tradition holds that he was partially blind until Christ’s blood touched his eyes and cured him.
He left the army, became a monk, and was later martyred.
St. Longinus, pray for us!

I am proud to sign @VP's pledge and join @POTUS and @WHFraudTF in the fight against fraud, waste, and abuse.
At @usedgov we have prevented more than $2 billion in student aid fraud and implemented real-time verification measures to protect taxpayer dollars.
Every dollar lost to fraud is a dollar taken away from a student trying to build a better future.
