It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the United States Ambassador to the European Union. I look forward to working with our European allies and I am committed to advancing the best interests of the American people - making America safer, stronger and more prosperous. My sincere thanks to President Trump for giving me the opportunity to serve in his incredible Administration. I am so proud of where our Nation is headed under his leadership. Thanks also to my wife and my friend Secretary Rubio for their support. Standing in the Oval Office with friends and family as my wife held a family Bible and Secretary Rubio administered the oath all under the watchful eye of President Trump was the experience of a lifetime. May God Bless President Trump and may God Bless the United States of America.

European prosperity depends on a thriving tech sector — and a prosperous Europe benefits both sides of the Atlantic! That means affordable energy, room to build, and fewer rules standing in the way of innovation. Great discussion today with @BonefeldCecilia of @DIGITALEUROPE on deepening transatlantic tech integration.

Great to join @SquawkCNBC to discuss the current state of affairs in Europe.
Much of the unrest we're seeing in France comes back to both stalled growth and mass immigration.
Overregulation is a huge problem. Small and medium-sized businesses across the EU need an army of lawyers just to grow. Brussels knows it and is trying to deregulate, but the political momentum needs to be a lot stronger to get the job done.
Illegal migration and a failure to assimilate are the other big part of the French problem, and we welcome the EU's growing resolve to secure its external borders and increase “removals.”.
The good news is that the U.S. and EU have shown what we can do together: a trade deal that cut tariffs to zero for American businesses, a critical minerals deal, and the EU signing on to Pax Silica.
A stronger European economy means a better trading partner for America. The United States stands ready to work with the EU to get there.

Excellent discussion with Director General Anthony Whelan on competition policy and the transatlantic economy. Fair, open markets benefit businesses and consumers on both sides of the Atlantic, and we'll keep working together toward that goal.

At a time of uncertainty in global energy markets, we are strengthening Europe’s energy security.
Today, @Europarl_EN swiftly voted in favour of postponing certain obligations under the EU Methane Regulation, giving energy companies more time to prepare for the new rules.
A more realistic timeline, effective implementation and continued progress on cutting emissions. – at Strasbourg, France

Thank you @HudsonInstitute for hosting an important conversation on the real-world costs of the EU's Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence and Reporting Directives (CS3D and CSRD). These Directives will result in higher prices for EU consumers and a continuing steep decline in foreign direct investment in the EU. The Draghi Report warned about exactly this kind of drag on European competitiveness over two years ago. Europe must adjust course or else risk continued stagnation.
youtube.com/live/oQ6ilcOedTU…
Senior Fellow Harold Furchtgott-Roth laid out the numbers plainly in his report: CSRD's compliance costs could reach many billions of dollars, with recurring costs just as steep. CS3D's price tag could be even higher.
Even after the EU's Sustainability Omnibus revisions last year, excessive burdens remain, such as unclear liability exposure, extensive reporting obligations, and extraterritoriality. Hopefully, the EU's guidelines for enforcing CS3D and CSRD will address these concerns. Otherwise, their economic impact on Europe will be severe.

Great discussion with Commissioner Albuquerque today on turning European savings into investments. Making investing simpler is a good start, and the Commissioner is pushing forward on a number of key reforms to create an EU Savings and Investments Union. The EU will also need to encourage growth through real de-regulation as I noted my op-ed rapporteur.com/opinion/europ…. But investing in the EU is too difficult and addressing that problem will help to unlock the capital required for growth.

Welcome to Brussels, @CWilson_FCDO! It was a pleasure sitting down to compare notes on our shared priorities in Brussels, from trade and investment to defense and security. Our message is the same: Europe is stronger when it works closely with its partners, and the U.S. and UK are ready to do just that.

As America celebrates 250 years of independence, we honor a lasting truth: the surest path to peace runs through partnership. In 1946, Senator J. William Fulbright had a bold idea: transform the instruments of war into tools of peace. Eighty years later, we celebrated the Fulbright-Schuman Program, a living legacy of that vision, with @FulbrightBELU in Brussels and our EU partners. Treaties build structure. People build alliances that last.

European households are sitting on €10–12 trillion in cash and bank savings. Invested, that money could power European growth. A stronger European economy means a better trading partner for America and a more capable NATO ally.
So why isn't that money invested? Savers don't believe companies in Europe can earn enough to justify the risk.
Mario Draghi's competitiveness report named the cause: Europe has piled rule upon rule while its productivity engine has stalled. Small businesses agree. They call regulation their biggest obstacle.
Making investing simpler, as Brussels plans, is a start. But savers follow growth. So, how do we get there?
Energy abundance, faster permits, rewards for investing in growing firms, and an end to overlapping reporting rules that turn mid-sized firms into reporting shops.
And one test for every new rule: Would a competent founder still choose to build and grow in Europe?
Make Europe a better bet, and the capital will follow.

Great discussion today with my friend Hungarian Permanent Representative @odor_balint. A strong U.S.-EU relationship is built with partners who value economic growth, energy resilience, strong borders, and security. The U.S. and Hungary are working together in the EU to reduce regulatory burdens, tackle shared challenges, and deliver prosperity and security for our citizens.

EU overregulation doesn't just drive up costs — it keeps medicines and devices off European shelves, and patients pay the price. Johnson & Johnson is invested in and committed to serving the European market, and it should be viewed as a partner, innovator, and source of good jobs for Europeans, not as a target to be reined in by fees or unnecessary regulation. Good conversation with @JNJNews SVP Jane Adams and colleagues on the opportunities and challenges facing American companies operating in Europe.

Great to meet the next generation of diplomats at @coebruges in Bruges! I really enjoyed the sharp questions and lively discussion with Master of Arts in Transatlantic Affairs (MATA) students, and the European Union Diplomatic Academy (EUDA) participants in the EU's diplomatic training program for enlargement countries (EUDP). The event marked 10 years of partnership between the Security & Defense Society and @FletcherSchool.

Europe wants to compete in superintelligence (SI), but its own rulebook is holding it back.
SI runs on energy and data centers, and EU policy has made both harder to come by. American tech companies tell me they want to build in Europe, but every time they turn around, there is a new regulation.
Brussels promises to "simplify." But Europe doesn't only need simpler rules. It also needs fewer of them.
If Europe wants to stay in the game, it needs affordable energy and room to build. The United States stands ready to help.

* Statue at Eisenhower building, 17th/Pennsylvania;
* Holy Cross Church; and
* Union Station, where I watched a Knights of Columbus ceremony. (This is the statue that used to be covered in HAMAS graffiti. No more!)

The U.S. and other nations have rejected the ICC’s authority. Its baseless actions against them have set a dangerous precedent for national sovereignty and our security. It has lost all credibility as it has succumbed to political biases. Secretary Rubio has been clear that this overreach has consequences and it's well past time for the ICC to address it. Kudos to the WSJ for calling it out: wsj.com/opinion/marco-rubio-…

Today, representatives from the United States, the E3, the European Commission, Ukraine, and NATO met in Miami and held constructive discussions on potential avenues to de-escalate and conclude the war with Russia ahead of winter and advance efforts toward a durable and lasting peace.
The discussions covered a broad range of issues, including near-term measures related to winter preparedness (energy resilience, grains exports), security guarantees, as well as longer-term arrangements for Ukraine’s and Europe’s security to prevent future conflicts, and support Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction and economic prosperity, including EU accession.
The exchange was productive and helped identify areas for further exploration ahead of the United States’ next engagement with Russia. Participants reaffirmed their shared commitment to continuing diplomatic efforts toward a sustainable peace that strengthens security and creates opportunities for lasting stability and prosperity.

A great moment during my visit to Berlin: standing on the historic Reagan Balcony at U.S. Embassy Berlin, overlooking the Brandenburg Gate. There in 1987, President Reagan issued a challenge that echoed across a divided Europe: “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.”
The Wall fell. Europe was reunited. Nearly 40 years later, the transatlantic partnership—and our shared commitment to freedom, security, and prosperity—remains as consequential as ever.

From the birthplace of democracy, @SecRubio delivered a powerful reminder: America and Europe share a history and a future. A stronger, more confident Europe means a stronger transatlantic alliance.
As the Secretary said in Athens: "Together, we must strengthen an alliance capable of confronting threats of our age. And we can. Because we do not believe the transatlantic friendship should be zero sum. Quite the opposite: our vision is of an alliance whose strength is greater than the sum of its parts."

Europe's talent is world class, and it has what it takes to reindustrialize and lead Europe in the SI economy. Now it needs the energy to match. After all, there are no energy-poor, economically prosperous countries.
That was my message today at the TBI Transatlantic Dialogue in Berlin. Growth is the goal. Let's deliver on the U.S.-EU trade deal, cut through the regulatory maze, unleash energy abundance, and stand together on China.
Under @POTUS President @realDonaldTrump's leadership, America stands ready to be Europe's partner for growth. Thank you to the TBI Transatlantic Dialogue for the invitation.
