Rio Ngumoha on Andoni Iraola’s faith in Liverpool’s youngsters:
“I can’t thank the gaffer and the coaching staff enough. And not to just put trust in me but also Trey [Nyoni], [Lewis] Koumas, James McConnell today.
“We showed the boss why he puts the faith in us. It was a good game.” 🔴
Rio Ngumoha on Liverpool’s confidence:
“Now the focus is the big game on Sunday against Arsenal.
“I think there’s no better feeling than winning games and wins upon wins upon wins. Confidence is high but we can never get too complacent.” 🔴
Giorgi Mamardashvili:
“It's going to be a tough game – we know them, a really good team. They press high, are good with the ball. But for us it's a very good opportunity to play them in our home, under the Anfield lights. Let's see.”
Andoni Iraola on team selection.
“We need fresh legs and also a lot of players are waiting for this competition to get some minutes, they are pushing hard also the young players. I have trust they can perform well.” 🔴
Trey Nyoni on Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson:
“Obviously Mo [Salah] and Robbo [Andy Robertson] are not here now, but they were a big part for me especially. They helped me a lot and advised me a lot off the pitch and just tried to be there for me.
“But just the advice and being in training every day has helped me a lot the last few years to be able to be in this position I’m in now. Having those players there, they helped me a lot.” 🔴
Trey Nyoni on previously winning the Carabao Cup making him want to win it more:
“Yeah, 100 per cent. Being around there at that point, it showed what it really means to win at this club. The atmosphere that day was really, really good. It’s something I’d never experienced before.”
“Not just the fact that we won but because a lot of younger players were involved on the day, I think it made it even more special. And for sure it showed me what it means to win it.”
Trey Nyoni on the challenge he expects from Chelsea:
“We know it’s going to be a tough game. The last round wasn’t an easy game either against Spurs, a good side who just beat Chelsea now.”
“We know that this competition is never easy to win, it’s not an easy thing to do. We just have to be focused and try to use the home advantage to help us win.”
Trey Nyoni on Liverpool’s young players:
“We know that obviously being here, it’s not easy, there’s a lot of world-class players here. They’re going to push us every day and I think having that just allows us to keep pushing on and keep progressing.
“Every time we go on the pitch, I think none of us are really nervous to show what we want to do. I think we all go out there and give 100%. That’s what’s important.” 🔴
Trey Nyoni on Ronald Araujo:
“Yeah, I think Ronald has kind of inspired everyone to fight. Coming from where he was, he was a captain, so that in itself already shows how much of a leader he is.
“And I think even though obviously at the minute he doesn’t speak much English, on the pitch you can see that he’s willing to fight and willing to give everything. When you see a player like that, I think it helps everyone else understand what it means to even just play here.” 🔴
Trey Nyoni on his block against Brighton:
“It hurt a lot. But I mean, that’s the point – if you want to win games, you want to keep clean sheets, if you want to be successful then these are the moments that you need as a team. It just shows the spirit.
“During the game as well, players putting their bodies on the line and fighting is what you need. It’s just as important as having quality as well going forward; defending is also a big part of it.”
Trey Nyoni on the team being in a good moment and the morale within the squad:
“Yeah, obviously it’s good. Everyone is positive right now. It was a tough game [against Brighton]. We knew we needed to win.”
“Obviously keeping a clean sheet as well was quite important because in the last few games we’ve conceded a couple of goals. I think everyone’s positive right now and there’s just a real belief in the group.”

Trey Nyoni on making the most of his opportunities:
“My motive has always just been like, whether I’m on the pitch for a minute, five minutes, 10 minutes, 90 minutes, I just try to make the most out of the minutes I get.” 🔴
Florian Wirtz on the noise around his displays:
"Maybe I'm just an interesting guy! I just play my football. If people want to talk about me or judge me, that's their job. I'm not focusing on that. I just want to play football and I can't do more [than that].” 🔴
