My beloved tumblr site 'dustsymbols' vanished into a cyber-ravine years ago, taking lots of writing and a full-ish list of my written work with it.
Lately I'm scoring much better as a writer, so I have collated a new list of my published scribbles HERE 👇

I can't lie, I'm very pleased with this review. Qian Zhongshu's acid dispenser. It's yet another edition of an old translation, so I placed particular focus on the new introduction by Yiyun Li.
Kudos @NewDirections and thank you for the ARC!
📰 Over the weekend in the ARB: Angus Stewart reviews a new release of “Fortress Besieged” by Qian Zhongshu @NewDirections

I first watched this show circa 2013. It felt prophetic then. Come 2026, more so.
I had to think hard, and pen something. So thank you @TypebarMagazine for helping me disseminate my output on the best(?) iteration of Ghost in the Shell.

Ey up! I have left a special treat in here for friends in Stockport and Manchester
𝐍𝐄𝐖@asiancha—Structured like a meal, Angus Stewart’s essay moves through courses that taste Kit Fan’s 𝐺𝑜𝑜𝑑𝑏𝑦𝑒 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑜𝑤𝑛 (World Editions, 2026): London kitchens, fusion dishes, class tensions, & the shifting ground of Hong Kong diaspora.

New in @BookReviewsAsia: My review of a female bildungsoman of sorts set in Shenzhen (and elsewhere!) amid China's shift to a market economy.
Morality, class, and decency are pondered.
The word “money” appears 57 more times than the word "life".

What a ride. A strange dream. A bad dream. An intense dream. And all too real.
Proud to have reviewed City Like Water in @BookReviewsAsia
This book goes incredibly hard - read it 🇭🇰
Blissed out to be published by Neon Dystopia. Blissed out and dissolving into dream, as in my story: Desire to Feel Nothing ♾️

It's based on my experience inside a sensory deprivation tank - may it make you feel like you are floating too
I had totally forgotten that back in 2019, Flash Fiction North published my wee story 'East Coast West Coast'. This is a good one for dog owners and people who enjoy tasting bittersweet memories. It's teeny tiny.

Being interviewed, and not for a job! A rare thing indeed. Here I am in Demain, interviewed by a FAN!
A little retrospective look under the TrChFic bonnet 🅰️🀄📗

A genuinely stupid/funny failure from HBO, but it's also rather emblematic of the ongoing enshittification of everything: who knows how much money they set on fire paying consultants to change their name every few months, while the actual "product" is treated w/ lazy carelessness

So proud to be inside this gorgeous, ghostly, and at times disgusting magazine.
My story is about a guy whose mind is disintegrating while he traverses one of the richest stretches of land in England - also disintegrating.
And with zero spite: happy St Andrews Day 🤠🏴
