18-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED FOR MURDER IN DEADLY CU BOULDER HALLOWEEN PARTY SHOOTING
BOULDER, COLORADO | NOVEMBER 2, 2026
An 18-year-old Thornton man has been arrested in connection with a deadly Halloween weekend shooting near the University of Colorado Boulder campus that left one student dead and another critically injured.
According to the Boulder Police Department, Omar Perez, 18, was arrested Monday on suspicion of first-degree murder under an extreme indifference theory and attempted first-degree murder under an extreme indifference theory.
Perez is not a University of Colorado student.
The shooting occurred around 11:28 p.m. Saturday, October 31, at a residence near 7th and Marine streets in Boulder’s University Hill neighborhood.
Police had already responded to the residence earlier that day for a noise complaint involving a large Halloween party attended by hundreds of people.
Authorities said several people were cited before officers shut down the gathering. A smaller group remained inside the residence.
WHAT INVESTIGATORS SAY HAPPENED
According to police and details contained in an arrest affidavit obtained by Denver7, Perez and five other individuals had been removed from the residence before Perez allegedly turned around and forced his way back inside.
A confrontation followed, with fighting reported both inside and outside the home.
One witness told investigators that he had placed Perez in a headlock after Perez allegedly ran toward another person.
The witness reported hearing what initially sounded like a balloon popping before observing a black handgun, later identified by the witness as a Glock 19, and an orange muzzle flash as additional shots were fired.
Another witness told police that approximately three rounds were fired and believed Perez may have been shooting indiscriminately into the crowd rather than aiming at a specific individual.
Investigators subsequently recovered several 10-millimeter shell casings inside the residence.
Two 19-year-old men, both University of Colorado students, were struck by gunfire.
Both victims were transported to Boulder Community Hospital.
One student died from his injuries early Sunday morning. The second was reported to be in critical condition. His current condition was not provided in the available update.
The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased student’s identity at a later time.
HOW POLICE IDENTIFIED THE SUSPECT
According to the arrest affidavit, investigators interviewed approximately 20 witnesses while reconstructing the events surrounding the shooting.
One witness reported that Perez fled immediately after the gunfire.
Investigators also obtained photographs that reportedly matched the suspect’s description.
Information from a family location-sharing application placed Perez in Boulder for approximately 30 minutes, with the location data indicating he departed roughly two minutes after police received the shooting call.
Authorities subsequently established probable cause for his arrest.
Police said they believe Perez was the only shooter, although additional charges against other individuals involved in the confrontation remain possible.
POLICE SEEK TWO ADDITIONAL PEOPLE FOR QUESTIONING
Boulder Police are continuing to seek two people of interest who investigators believe may have information relevant to the shooting.
One individual was photographed wearing a dark hoodie, a backward baseball cap and glasses.
The second individual was described as having short, dark hair and wearing a black T-shirt featuring Art the Clown from the Terrifier horror film series.
Police have released photographs and doorbell camera footage showing individuals entering and leaving the residence.
Authorities are asking anyone who attended the party, recognizes the individuals or possesses additional photographs or video to contact investigators.
The two individuals are being sought for questioning and have not been identified in the available reporting as suspects charged in the shooting.
COMMUNITY REACTION
Colorado Governor Jared Polis addressed the shooting in a statement, emphasizing the importance of safety for students and their families.
“Our students and families deserve to feel safe in their communities, on campus, and wherever they gather,” Polis said.
He also encouraged anyone with information, photographs or video to assist Boulder Police in identifying those involved.
According to police, this was Boulder’s first homicide of 2026.
The families of both victims have requested privacy and do not wish to speak with the media.
INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
Anyone with information about the shooting or the individuals being sought for questioning is encouraged to contact Boulder Police dispatch at 303-441-3333.
Investigators are also accepting photographs and video evidence related to the Halloween party and shooting.
Perez faces serious felony allegations. The charges are accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The investigation remains ongoing.

Senator Hickenlooper’s wealth comes with a dark history.
Years ago, his company, the Cherry Cricket, hired an illegal alien who went on to murder Officer Donny Young and severely wound another officer. Following this preventable murder, Hickenlooper sold his shares in the business for a profit of $5M–$10M.
Today, through “lucky” investments of that money while in the Senate, his net worth has grown to over $34 million.
Now, Hickenlooper supports companies like Microsoft that lay off American workers just to import their replacements.
It’s clear: Hickenlooper only fights for his own wallet—not for Colorado, not for America, and not for your family. 🇺🇸

This is not even real… Jena Griswold sat in front of a 60 Minutes camera last night and said Tina Peters "was elected by her county to uphold the elections. Instead, she attacked the elections from within." Jena said that, with a straight face, the same Jena Griswold whose own office posted voting system passwords on a public spreadsheet in 2024 and walked away without a scratch while Tina sat in a cell.
Let me explain who actually paid the price here. Tina is a Gold Star mother who spent 606 days in prison, and she has said from day one that what she was protecting were the 2020 and 2021 election records federal law required her to preserve for 22 months, the audit, adjudication and access log files she says were being deleted right there in her own election room. She has also said plainly she was never convicted of "tampering with voting equipment," no matter how many times they repeat it on TV.
And what did CBS do with a national audience on a Sunday night? They ran Judge Matthew Barrett's "charlatan" line again, they let Phil Weiser tell America she is "cashing in" on her case, they let Griswold play the guardian of democracy, and they wrapped the whole thing in a story about Trump and a wildfire. Not one hard question for the Secretary of State about her own office and those passwords, and not one real question about why those records were being wiped in the first place.
How is the woman who raised her hand the criminal, and the official whose office leaked the passwords the hero on 60 Minutes? Make no mistake, this was never just about one clerk in Mesa County… it is about making sure the next clerk who sees something wrong never opens her mouth.
I have watched them take Tina's freedom, drain her bank account, and now try to take her name in front of millions of people days before an election. Tina says the segment was heavily edited and she is putting out her own answer. Watch it, share it, and then ask yourself who really attacked Colorado's elections from within.
Shame on you, Jena… and shame on CBS for handing you the microphone.
“[Tina Peters] was elected by her county to uphold the elections. Instead, she attacked the elections from within,” says Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold. cbsn.ws/3UN3WcP

TWO POSSIBLE SINKHOLES REPORTED IN DENVER MONDAY, INCLUDING ONE AT DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
October 26, 2026
Denver emergency communications have reported two possible sinkholes today, just over two hours apart, at separate locations across the city.
3:10 PM — DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
A possible large sinkhole was reported in the landside employee parking lot near Valley Head Street and Employee Lot Road at Denver International Airport.
According to Denver Public Works dispatch communications, personnel were requested to inspect the area and place traffic cones if the reported condition presented a hazard.
The report was categorized as a road closure incident, although the available dispatch information does not establish whether any roadway or parking lot access was actually closed.
The size, depth, and cause of the suspected sinkhole have not been confirmed.
1:03 PM — IVANHOE STREET, CENTRAL DENVER
Earlier Monday, a possible sinkhole was reported on Ivanhoe Street between East 11th Avenue and East 12th Avenue.
The incident was associated with a reported road closure.
The extent of the suspected pavement failure, any resulting damage, and the current status of the roadway have not been independently confirmed.
TWO REPORTS, TWO DIFFERENT LOCATIONS
The incidents were reported approximately two hours and seven minutes apart.
There is currently no verified information suggesting the two incidents are connected.
Sinkholes and roadway depressions can result from several conditions, including underground water leaks, soil erosion, drainage failures, and deterioration beneath pavement. The causes of these particular reports remain unknown.
We will continue monitoring for additional information regarding inspections, road closures, and any potential public safety concerns.
