Jamaica failing to qualify for the Men's 4x100m Relay final in Paris takes me back to London 2012. Still one of the greatest races the Olympics has witnessed till date.

Cristiano gets treated so unfairly, and somehow his words always get twisted.
People forget that behind the footballer is a human being with feelings, emotions, and a heart. Heโs been through so much, yet he continues to stand strong and never gives up.
The amount of hate he receives is honestly unbelievable, but no matter how much people try to bring him down, he keeps going. Iโll forever stand by him and support him. When Cristiano speaks, you listen.
The GOAT, always. ๐

โI apologise to the Portuguese people once again, but the breaking of oneโs word has, for me, a defining impact. I felt that, from that point on, my remaining would only harm the working group, and I did what I have always said I would do if I did not feel useful: I packed my bags and left.โ
Clowns circulated fake news of him asking that Portugal sack the manager or heโll not return, can you all see how foolish you guys are?
๐จ๐ต๐น Cristiano Ronaldo: โI decided to leave the camp without waiting for any further breach of word. For me the truth is still the most important thing in the relationship between people. However much it hurts, let them tell me the truth.
In fact, in a conversation I had with the President of the FPF and with the coach on the morning of the day of that press conference โ they can certainly confirm this โ I reaffirmed that if they did not want me there they should tell me. It was enough for them to be frank with me. I would accept that and I promised that we would prepare something beautiful, as I dream will happen, and no one would be left angry.
I remember it as if it were today. They replied in unison that no. That my place was in the National Team.
Never, at any moment, have I interfered in any technical or tactical decision of any coach or national team manager in almost 25 years of career.
I accept, for better or worse, what they propose that I do. I respect the decision, and when they break their word to me, I feel that my place is not there.
I also owe an apology to my national team teammates for having left the camp.
Despite the absolute breach of trust in the coachโs word, as those who witnessed these conversations can attest, I should not have done it. The responsibility is exclusively mine.
I apologise to the Portuguese people once again, but the breaking of oneโs word has, for me, a defining impact. I felt that, from that point on, my remaining would only harm the working group, and I did what I have always said I would do if I did not feel useful: I packed my bags and left.
The consequence of this act of mine must be assessed and punished by the Portuguese Football Federation. I understand that the punishment should have no mitigating factors. I am not just any player; I am team captain, and that constitutes an aggravating factor.
I have already apologised, but I know that attitudes must have consequences. Anyone who is in football as I am knows that, regardless of each personโs status, the rules are the same for everyone.
On this subject, I have heard a great deal of talk about farewell matches, that I must have a dignified farewell and that the Federation wants to give me that opportunity.
I learned in life, often hungry and with nothing to eat, that no one gives anything to anyone.
I can promise all my fans, naturally and especially all Portuguese people, that we will have one or more farewell matches; there will be time for that.
But when I think of the national team, what I really think of is competing. That is what I thought on the day I was given the news of my fatherโs death.
I was at a camp with our national team and I decided to stay there until the end of the match the following day. I did for the country what I would never do for any club.
Therefore, if I am physically well, playing for my club, with goals I hope, after serving the suspension that may be applied to me, I will be available, as I have always been until today, to compete and win for our national team.
This is, believe me, the purest of truths.
Cristiano Ronaldoโ.
Honestly, itโs hard to comprehend how strong Ronaldoโs mental stamina is even when all the odds are against him. The ability to keep going, to keep demanding more from himself despite all the achievements, fame, status and wealth heโs amassed, is extraordinary. Such people are rare in this world.
Thatโs why when people cannot comprehend why he does the things he does, they frame it under the umbrella of โhuge egoโ. Thatโs the closest explanation of how insane this guy is.
His mentality is a huge part of why his career has had such incredible longevity. It goes beyond passion or talent. Thereโs something about his mindset that genuinely needs to be studied.
Heโs just all round inspirational.
Cristiano Ronaldo was in the Portugal camp when his father died and never left. He stayed put to represent his nation.
Cristiano Ronaldoโs son died while he was at Manchester United, but he was still representing the club and carried on professionally.
In all of these moments, he was branded the villain and hated.
No footballer in the world has had to go through what Ronaldo went through but he prevailed. He is whoever he thinks he is!๐
Ronaldo accepting responsibility as the captain & leader of the team, and apologizing to his teammates for leaving camp despite what happened with the coach is the right thing to do ๐๐ฝ
Just rewatched the press conference Ronaldo did days ago and he literally spoke his leaving camp into existence WTF. He basically explained that he discussed his plans to retire with the coach and the national team president, etc., they all concluded that they counted on him and asked him to stay 100%, he accepted the call up.
He further explained that the moment he felt he wasnโt contributing enough or when they no longer counted on him, heโd be the first to speak to them about it, then pack his bags and leave. Heโs kept to his word and done that now. Again, we do not have the full story of what was said behind closed doors, but the post he put out aligns with what he said days ago about discussing with them when the time came to leave.
He never had any problems with Jorge at Al Nassr and they had it rougher at Saudi. He was a regular substitute and they literally won the league title together but of course, things can change, maybe they have cause club football ainโt the same as International tournaments.
At 41, he celebrates every goal he scores for Portugal like he did when he was 19. You donโt attain such heights the way he has in his career without knowing when youโre being used. I donโt think heโs blind to the fact that they are using him to sell out stadiums, merchandise, drive investments and revenue etc., he just didnโt care because of his love & undeniable passion for serving his country. I blame him for allowing it tbh, but I donโt know how it feels to be Ronaldo so I respect his decision. I hope Dalot tells Tosin everything that went down so that I can get the full gist ๐คฃ
He needs to write a memoir and do a film series of his career, hoping it happens one day โค๏ธ
That was definitely serious for Alex de Minaur if he had to retire that way. Top professional, canโt imagine how crushed he must be feeling, he was on a good run. Speedy recovery โค๏ธ
Congrats Djokovic ๐
