If Your Customer Return Rate Is Under 25%...
You Have An Email Problem.
I've Spent The Last 5 Years Helping 100+ Ecommerce Brands, Including Rho Nutrition, Build Email Systems That Turn First-Time Buyers Into Lifelong Customers.
Here's The Exact Framework We Use…
Some of the brands I've worked with:
→ Rho Nutrition
→ Boréome
→ Tennant Products
→ NanoXtreme
→ Farmer Bill's Provisions
→ Lonvera
→ Meraki Medicinal
→ Grazly
→ Healthysol
...and more, across supplements, skincare, pet wellness, and food brands.
The pattern I see over and over: most brands "have email marketing" because they have a welcome flow and maybe an abandoned cart sequence. But email should be doing 35-45% of total revenue. Most brands are stuck at 5-15%. That gap is money already sitting on the table.
Why? Because most email strategies are just cookie-cutter templates, sent at the wrong time, with the wrong message, or missing altogether. A supplement brand shouldn't email like a jewelry brand. A high-ticket product doesn't convert like an impulse buy. Yet most brands treat them exactly the same.
Here's the 3-step framework I use with every brand I take on: Pop-ups, Flows, Campaigns.
STEP 1: POP-UPS
If you're running paid traffic without a pop-up, you're wasting most of that spend. ~98% of paid traffic leaves your site and never comes back. A pop-up is the only mechanism that lets you capture that traffic before it's gone for good.
Strong pop-ups convert 10-20% of site traffic into subscribers. But most brands run a basic "10% off" box that nobody engages with. Three things actually move the needle: format, offer, and design.
Format matters more than people think. Standard email opt-in = fine, not great. Micro-commit pop-up (ask "Want 15% off?" with Yes/No before showing the email field) = better, it uses commitment bias, once someone says yes they're far more likely to finish. Best format: quiz-style pop-ups. Ask a specific question relevant to your brand instead of yes/no. It captures more data on your visitor AND makes the experience feel personalized.
Offer: lower AOV brands → percentage discount. Higher AOV brands → flat dollar amount, it feels more substantial. No discounts in your brand model? Free shipping or a free gift works too. Design: the offer should be the first thing a visitor's eyes land on, no clutter.
STEP 2: EMAIL FLOWS
These are the automated sequences triggered by customer behavior. They run 24/7 and consistently drive 30-50% of total email revenue across every account I've built. There are 9 core flows every brand should have:
Welcome flow (5 emails) — discount + welcome, founder story, social proof, upgraded urgency offer to non-buyers, final reminder.
Abandoned cart + checkout (4 emails each) — reminder, us-vs-them, 24hr urgency, final discount to non-buyers only.
Browse abandonment (3 emails) — reminder + USPs, social proof, urgency discount to non-buyers.
Site abandonment (1 email) — simple nudge back to the product catalog.
Post-purchase (4 emails) — thank you, reviews, results/future-pacing, how-to-use education.
Win-back (3 emails) — discount + testimonials, reminder with bestsellers, final 24hr urgency push.
Cross-sell (1 email) — bestsellers with social proof, aimed at getting repeat buyers to add to their routine.
Replenishment (1 email) — simple restock reminder, single CTA.
Set these up right and you stop losing revenue from traffic and customers you already paid to acquire. This is the layer most brands are missing 60-80% of.
STEP 3: EMAIL CAMPAIGNS
Campaigns alone can drive 15-25% of total monthly revenue, and cost almost nothing to send compared to paid acquisition. 6-7 figure brands: 2-4 campaigns/week. 8-9 figure brands: 4-8/week. Smaller brands: 2-4 is plenty to start.
Rule of thumb: 80% of your campaigns should be value-driven, no discount attached. Only 20% should be promotional. Constant discounting trains your list to wait for sales instead of buying at full price.
5 campaign ideas that work across almost any brand:
→ "How to use" education emails
→ Bestseller spotlights
→ Us vs. Them comparisons
→ New arrival announcements
→ Brand story / values campaigns
Pop-ups capture the traffic you're already paying for. Flows convert and retain it automatically. Campaigns keep the relationship active and drive incremental revenue on top. Do all three properly and 35-45% of your revenue coming from email isn't a stretch goal, it's the floor.
That's the exact framework behind the results I've built for Rho Nutrition, Boréome, Tennant Products, and every other brand I work with. If you're running an ecom brand and email is underperforming, this is where to start.
As someone who's spent years optimizing email systems for 100+ brands, I'm telling you this is the fastest way to add significant revenue to your store without touching your ad spend, hiring anyone, or changing anything else about your business. We build it, you profit from it forever.

Every customer who hasn't reordered in 30–90 days is doing one of two things:
costing you thousands.
or making you thousands.
That window, day 30 to day 90 after someone's last order, is the moment a customer decides who they are going forward. A repeat buyer. Or a name sitting in your list that never converts again.
Most brands don't touch that window at all. They either keep sending the same generic campaigns to everyone, or they quietly write these people off as "unengaged" and stop bothering.
Both are expensive mistakes, just in different directions.
Keep blasting them the same as your active buyers, and you're training Gmail and Apple Mail that you're a sender people ignore. That hurts your placement for everyone, including the customers who do want to hear from you.
Ignore them completely, and you're leaving a pile of near-misses on the table. People who already trusted you enough to buy once. People who don't need to be convinced your brand is legit, they just need a reason to come back.
That 30 to 90 day window is the highest leverage moment in the entire customer lifecycle, and almost nobody builds anything for it.
The brands who get this right aren't sending more. They're sending smarter, to a smaller, more specific group, at the exact moment it matters.
A short sequence that acknowledges the gap. Asks what got in the way. Gives a real reason to place a second order before that window closes and the customer quietly becomes "lapsed" instead of "repeat."
Not a discount blast to your whole list. A conversation with the specific people who are one nudge away from becoming your best customers.
If you don't know how many people in your list are sitting in that window right now, that's the first thing worth checking.
Because right now, they're either making you money or costing you money.

ecom bros, start selling again the same week your customers buy from you.
steal the cross-sell email we deploy for every client we onboard. 🧵
most brands make the same mistake.
they wait 30+ days before asking for another sale.
by then, the excitement from the first purchase is gone.
we start cross-selling in the first week while buying intent is still high.
here's the framework:
1. lead with your best sellers.
don't send customers to your entire catalog.
hand-pick 3–5 products that naturally complement what they just bought.
less choice = more conversions.
2. let your customers do the selling.
under every product, include:
- product image
- one key benefit
- ★★★★★ review
- one cta
the review is what sells the product.
3. keep every cta the same.
every button should say:
shop now
don't make customers think.
one action. repeated throughout the email.
4. give customers multiple buying opportunities.
one email.
multiple products.
let customers choose what solves their next problem instead of forcing a single offer.
5. finish with trust.
close with:
- guarantees
- certifications
- awards
- product guides
the first 7–14 days after someone buys are when purchase intent is at its highest.
that's when you should be earning the second sale.
not waiting 30+ days to ask for it.

your emails don't need 800 words of education to convert.
