many imagine ai to either kill us all or bring utopia but few have considered "ai makes everything worse forever but not enough to kill us quickly"
I know it's my job to feel this way, but I think we've made the coolest thing that's (about to be) available on Quest 3. I'm so proud of our team. Our game is ridiculous. I can't wait to get people in it.

I don't think this is just the AAA game industry contracting, but really the sunsetting the of the Gen-X notion of what a game is being culturally dominant/relevant.

It’s going to get worse but we are rapidly becoming a society of two types of people, ones who can function normally the way people have for thousands of years, and the other who have intellectually neutered themselves in the delusional belief that it is to become more efficient
Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.
Just had a Shake-Shack burger for the first time in a while and it's downright irritating how much better it is than In & Out (given its like fucking 3x as expensive)

In the last 24 hours:
1. iPhone 11 through 16 are apparently vulnerable to remote attacks.
2. SSL certificates are broken until browsers remove eMudhra CA.
3. PHP >9 vulnerability CVE published (tomorrow).
The world is about to witness things that have never been seen before.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The post's iPhone claim is inaccurate; a leaked Cellebrite forensic tool targets a Bluetooth bug patched in iOS 26.5 and does not affect updated devices. The eMudhra CA and PHP issues are real incidents but framed sensationally.

Seeing a board member of UCLA posting AI-rip short films of a beloved game (Machinarium) without the permission of its creators is so fucking grim.
I don't anticipate a game console costing under $1000 ever again. Even the Switch 3 will probably be $999 (in the US) at launch when it eventually occurs.
Xbox is reportedly planning for their next console to release in late 2028.
Microsoft is internally projecting that the console could cost consumers between $1,200 and $1,800, unless they decide to subsidize the cost.

'Playtests' are no longer marketing tools. They should be done in private behind legal agreements again.
A bunch of how your game is should remain a surprise to the public until its launch day.
Only option now
Digital Sun has delayed a planned Steam playtest for its next game, ReVamp, citing concerns over "games being reverse-engineered, cloned and published before the original is even out." bit.ly/4sg7LUg

Did you know that opening an @autodesk product binds you to their audit clause, and it never goes away?
Their General Terms run "indefinitely," and §16.4 says the audit section survives termination "for any reason." Cancel your subscription, and they can still audit you years later.
§17.8: they can audit remotely or on-site. You get 15 days to submit results from "an Autodesk-approved tool" run on all your devices. If they find a gap, you "must immediately purchase" licenses covering it, plus "Autodesk's reasonable costs to complete the Verification."
And you can't really terminate on your own. §16.1 only lets you terminate if Autodesk breaches.
Read them yourself: autodesk.com/company/terms-o…
The world after 2026 looks different. Customers can build their way out now. Terms like these are unconscionable, and software companies should rethink them before their users do it for them.
This is a wild approach, @autodesk.
We’re a small business paying $380 per user, per month. We’ve been paying customers for over a decade, and we make a deliberate effort to honor the license agreements for every product we use. Your software already requires authentication and an assigned license. What, specifically, prompted this email?
Earlier today, I had two conversations on two separate podcast episodes about your direction with Fusion and why cloud-based API access makes sense for agentic MEP workflows. I was making the case for Autodesk. I think the product direction is right based on recent posts from @andrew_anagnost.
Our company has been deciding where to invest our development effort: integrate our custom cloud agent harness into Autodesk, build on an open-source platform, or adopt one of the emerging cloud alternatives. That decision will lock in years of internal development and software spending. This decision is also central to our plans to expand @PermitZIP nationwide.
An email like this becomes part of that decision. So does the time we have to spend responding to it.For more than a decade, we’ve paid for anywhere from 5 to 30 licenses each year. Autodesk is our single largest SaaS expense. This is a heck of a way to make our next platform decision easier.
Starting next week, we’ll begin transitioning away from Autodesk products. We have nothing to hide and will cooperate with the audit. We’ll also be directing our future spending toward companies that earn our confidence as partners.
I hope your audit goes well.
I announce that we're taking 6+ extra months to make our PCVR build everything it can be instead of just a Quest port: PCVR people furious
Fast Travel goes for Simul-launch on PC, with a build that looks mostly like the Quest version: PCVR people furious.

Someone could probably write a book (if they haven’t already) about the cycle of technology productizing the removal of friction in the name of convenience only for us to discover that the friction was a load-bearing part of the social compact.
Someone told me he thinks dating apps are bad because they let you access connection without having any motion in your life. Normally meeting people requires going out into the world, entering new scenes and navigating unfamiliar situations. You have to be living a life that brings you into contact with other people. Dating apps let you order connection without doing any of that work

When you see stuff like this, it paints a dark future for game devs… I thought the article was just talking about clones in general but they actually used Claude to decompile the code and then released a dupe using their code. How can anyone defend this?
