What a great response from Coach Lanier! So thoughtful & applicable to all teams. I couldnt help but think of my own Ivy Tech Baseball Team and our loss of Andrew Carpenter, a beautiful-wonderful young man this past fall.
Last night at his postgame presser, @GeorgiaStateMBB head coach Rob Lanier delivered one of the most mindful answers I have ever heard.
Sports fan or not, I really encourage you to watch this.

Was at my daughters practice and was asked why I sit alone at games and practices I told them because I don’t like to hear grown men and women bash kids or their coaches I can watch my kid play and let the coach coach I don’t need to hear 40 other people trying to do his job

Please remember that all those interactions you have with your students outside of the lesson really matter. The smiles… the eye contact…the jokes, the fist bumps…and the silliness…they’re all important. They remind kids that THEY matter. Those moments can mean the world.
