Ever wondered why microbial 🦠🧫 biodiversity conservation is important in Antarctica🇦🇶
Here’s our recent review @npjbiodiversity nature.com/articles/s44185-0… in collaboration with @laurazucconi_gf @ExtremophilesUK @Marcelo42879821 & others

New paper out! We explored geothermal sites in Antarctica, uncovered 72 bacterial genera & 107 species, many reported for first time, with exciting biotechnological potential. 🔥 Life thriving upto 100°C in Deception Island

Chile 🇨🇱 might be one of the most underrated countries on Earth…
And almost nobody outside South America understands why.
Look at the map…
The Andes guard the east.
The Pacific guards the west.
The driest desert on Earth sits to the north.
Patagonia and glaciers stretch across the south.
Chile is a natural fortress.
Hard place to invade.
Hard place to collapse.
Chile also became one of the world’s major food exporters…
Wine.
Salmon.
Fruit shipped to markets all over the world.
Then there’s lithium…
Chile sits at the heart of the Lithium Triangle…
one of the richest battery-metal regions on Earth.
Electric cars.
Energy storage.
The next industrial shift runs straight through the Andes.
And despite the chaos sometimes seen across Latin America…
Chile actually works.
Banks work.
Infrastructure works.
Airports work.
The electric grid works.
You can ski in the Andes in the morning…
and drink Carménère by the Pacific that night.
Not many countries offer that kind of life.
Which is why more people are starting to notice Chile…
Some are considering it a Plan B…
Many are realizing it could be a Plan A.
Temporary residency first…
Permanent residency a couple years later…
Citizenship after five years by law.
In a world getting stranger every year…
Chile 🇨🇱 feels like one of the last countries that still makes sense.
And the people who figure that out early…
will always have a safe retreat.

Congratulations to Chile for becoming the first country in the Americas to eliminate leprosy disease.
#Chile joins #Jordan as the only two countries to have eliminated leprosy globally, demonstrating that with inclusive health services, integrated public health strategies, early detection and universal access to care, we can consign ancient diseases to the annals history.

We’ll investigate extremophilic bacterial polysaccharides as dual anticancer +antibacterial agents for digestive tract cancer. From @autonomadechile honored to team up with @udeconcepcion 🇨🇱 & @jpfabi_JP USP🇧🇷 Lets make great science happen✨🔬
