At a time when believers are crying out to God to live by His power, MacDonald is promoting yet another book on spiritual warfare that is unable to equip and empower believers to stand against Satan’s kingdom. The Lord turns His light on MacDonald warnings of deception while still operating from inside Satan’s counterfeit system. Like so many other ministers who present the counterfeit gospel as a replacement for Jesus’ covenant, MacDonald failed to discern that his warfare practices is the very trap the enemy set for the church. The very depths of deception the Apostle Paul warned against is the door MacDonald opens which binds believers in chains of bondage and keeps them blind to truth. Macdonald attempts to self-correct by posing a challenge to himself and to believers to “know God intimately” and “walk in His power fearlessly”, but he denies the very power and knowledge God has placed within Jesus’s covenant for believers to have a relationship with Him and stand against the enemy. Above the battle cry of this culture of self-correction, God’s challenge rings out: God has prepared the apostles of Jesus’ covenant to bring a clear separation between His covenant and Satan’s counterfeit gospel that endorses false deliverance and prophetic practices. God makes the distinction clear: Satan’s gospel omits My covenant and fails to equip believers with the tokens of the priesthood. It is becoming increasingly evident that wilderness ministers like Bryce Crawford are trying to self-correct their position on what salvation means. In a Christian culture where we hear more and more about what is missing and what needs to be done to bring about revival, increase faith, and build stronger disciples… God is shining a bright light on counterfeit conversions and restoring what salvation truly means to Him. Crawford can see the evidence of a covenant-less gospel but has nothing more to offer. Choosing to stand independent of God’s true apostolic stewardship, he attempts to correct the problems produced by the very gospel he continues to uphold. God is unmasking these counterfeit corrections because they still leave believers without the covenant knowledge God designed for our salvation. Crawford points out that salvation isn’t a magic spell and that there is no single prayer that secures salvation. This admission of error is precisely why God is sending out His true apostles—so that believers can escape another moment of awareness without ever moving forward. God is unmasking the language wilderness ministers like Crawford use to sound spiritual, to sound as though they speak for God, and to sound as though they are bringing biblical correction. They speak about “the process the Holy Spirit uses to make us more like Christ” and “the Great Commission to walk alongside believers.” These all sound like things that need to be done and experiences believers need to have, but knowledge without direction into Jesus’ covenant provides no substance for your soul. Believers are left wondering what went wrong and whether their salvation is even secure. How does God define salvation? Salvation is the very entrance point into His kingdom. The Lord returned apostles to the church to restore His own covenant way to know Him. Chief Apostle Eric returns God’s definition of salvation: “Salvation is the process to which God has committed Himself to receive us, daily wash us, heal our soul, and prepare within us new fruits of His righteousness.” Chief Apostle Eric returns God’s definition of the baptism of the Holy Spirit: “The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a token of sanctification. It is given for the purpose of separating the repentant sinner from the world unto God to thus seal his faith and begin a covenant relationship, whereby he is empowered to serve God and to know God.” When we bring these two definitions together, God makes the order of His salvation clear. Salvation is God’s commitment to receive us, wash us, heal our soul, and prepare within us the fruits of His righteousness. The baptism of the Holy Spirit, witnessed by tongues, seals our faith and brings us into the sanctified covenant environment where this work of regeneration can take place. These are not two disconnected experiences. The baptism of the Holy Spirit marks our entrance into the covenant relationship, and within that relationship God carries out His commitment to bond and build with us as we continue to walk with Him. This is why Satan has worked so strongly through a covenant-less gospel to redefine both salvation and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Once God’s order is rejected, wilderness ministers are left trying to produce through their own corrections what only God’s covenant was designed to produce. They can add new instructions, call for greater commitment, or point believers towards stronger discipleship, but they cannot produce the fruit of regeneration outside the process God sanctified. God is bringing this distinction back into view: the washing, healing, cleansing, and fruit-bearing of salvation are not produced by another method of discipleship. They are the work God committed Himself to perform within the covenant environment He established. Crawford can see the dirty garments. He can see the many unwashed and unprepared believers who have not tasted what it means to truly walk with God. But in his attempt to reposition himself as a voice of correction, Crawford himself has fallen short of the invitation God has extended to enter Jesus’ covenant—he’s coming in some other way—just as Jesus said the thief would do. Standing apart from the light of God’s true apostolic stewardship, he can identify that the garments need washing, but he cannot provide God’s cleansing.
