When I created this program, I sought to center Black high school students, educators, and communities. Thankful for my team of extraordinary people @AprilWarrenG @AnyahNancy and C’enna Crosby, among others, who made my vision come alive in year two.
We're so proud of the Genius Scholars who completed this year's Genius, Joy, and Love Summer Academy! ✨

Including this image into the talk I’ll be giving at the @ASCACINTL conference in a few minutes, “Speech, Governance and AfroFuturism: Divine Conversation as National Sebayt.” African peoples’ best futures start with recovered memory. Politics aside, this image prompts reminder.

This is why I tell journalism students that open-ended questions are better than questions that sound tough. When conservatives first hijacked “woke,” every journalist should have asked them to define it. Cause these meltdowns would have happened a lot.

If you need someone to explain why Black people should vote
If the people who demonstrate hate for Black people happily welcome you with open arms…

It’s worth repeating. A mom drove there. Got handcuffed. Got out of handcuffs. Hopped a fence. Went inside the school and walked out with her two kids. All while 19 officers waited outside the classroom where the gunman was. #UvaldePolice #Uvalde

The size of the average gas tank is 16.5 gallons.
Which means a minimum wage employee has to work more than a day just to fill their gas tank.
