🌍🕊️💱This post may sound naive.
The peoples of the #MiddleEast have suffered for millennia as a result of struggles between great powers.
First came Akkad and Sumer, then Egypt, the Hittites, and Mitanni; later Urartu, Media, and Assyria; then the Greco-Macedonian invasions and Persia; followed by Rome and Persia, the Arab Caliphate, the Crusaders, the Eastern Roman Empire, the Seljuks, the Ottoman and Safavid states, #Russia, Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union, and the #USA. Now #China has entered the picture as well.
Why does this keep happening? Because there is no regional consolidation.
Why is there no consolidation? Because a strong and lasting civic identity has not fully developed in many parts of the Middle East.
There are many vulnerabilities that global powers can exploit: attitudes toward the state, toward one another, toward society, prevailing worldviews, poverty, low levels of education, and more.
The Middle East can become peaceful only if every country invests in #education, #science, and social development.
Only then will a generation emerge that is capable of discussing its own version of a “Coal and Steel Community” — a framework for regional cooperation and integration based on shared interests rather than rivalry.

🇦🇲🇷🇺#Armenia has not paid its #CSTO membership contributions for more than two years, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin stated.
“Therefore, the issue could well be considered and a decision made to temporarily suspend its membership — or, more precisely, deprive it of its voting rights until the outstanding contributions are paid. This is an entirely technical matter предусмотрed by the organization's charter, under a specific article. So this could possibly be the outcome, but it depends on the decision of the president,” the Russian deputy foreign minister said.
Interestingly, the Russian official acknowledges that certain decisions within an international organization are made by the president of one of its member states — in this case, the President of #Russia.

🇦🇲What are the global processes surrounding #Armenia today?
Following a series of high-profile international agreements concluded last year and early this year, a phase of implementation has begun.
In the technology sector, the first green shoots have appeared in the form of an #AI factory in the village of #Gagarin near Lake #Sevan.
Armenia's exports are successfully diversifying. Armenian products are increasingly ending up in countries where no one would have thought to export them just a few years ago: #CentralAsia, the Gulf states, and #Europe. At the same time, there are logistical hurdles in supply chains, which I will write about later.
A major breakthrough has occurred in the social sphere. This is driven by the introduction of a medical insurance system, through which thousands of pensioners have begun receiving necessary surgeries entirely funded by the state budget.
In the Armenian Armed Forces, a major systemic problem remains: non-regulatory relations (hazing), which lead to non-combat deaths among conscripts. This is a very deep and widespread issue. From the perspective of army reform, based on expert analysis, we can state that there is an ongoing process of transforming unit operations, shifting to small mobile groups where the sergeant corps takes center stage, capable of making independent decisions during combat missions.
In international relations, Armenia is striving for a non-aligned status. In fact, Yerevan has drawn a line under the #CSTO after the CSTO did the same regarding Armenia. At the same time, there are no aspirations to join NATO in Armenia. Everyone understands the relations of #Iran and #Russia with #NATO, as well as the importance of these two countries for Armenia.
Concurrently, a balanced distribution of foreign policy relations is taking place. While previously Armenia's foreign policy was almost entirely aligned with Russia's wake, Yerevan is now trying to develop relations relatively equally with all global power centers and regional players.
In this regard, despite the war between the #US and Iran, there are plans to begin implementing #TRIPP on the ground as early as this year.
Additionally, Armenia's role is changing not only within the region, but also in interregional ties. More on that later as well.

🇹🇷🇦🇲🇦🇿I’ve been observing the mutual accusations between Turkish and Azerbaijani social media users, and I’ve noticed that #Armenia is being pushed to the forefront of the debate. I would say this is being done artificially.
One accusation made by some Azerbaijanis is that #Türkiye has supposedly decided to open its border with Armenia soon and no longer wants to take the interests of its Azerbaijani ally into account.
One accusation made by some Turks is that #Azerbaijan, a Muslim-majority country (although, in reality, it is a secular state, just like Türkiye), supports Israel, even as Christian Armenia (which is also a secular state) supports #Palestine. They also accuse Baku of being ungrateful to Türkiye for its assistance in Azerbaijan’s victory in #Karabakh.
More radical statements are being made as well. Some Turks are writing that #Turkey will no longer help Azerbaijan in a conflict with Armenia and that Armenians can “take Karabakh back in peace,” as if Türkiye were granting them permission to do so.
I’ve also noticed that many Armenian social media users are welcoming this verbal clash between the two neighboring countries. Of course, there are reasons for that: Armenia and Armenians as a whole have suffered enormously at the hands of both neighbors.
But we are living in a new reality, one in which we all need to keep a cool head and avoid being swept away by emotions or falling for provocations.
The more we wish war and death upon one another in our region, the easier we make it for outside powers to manipulate us and reap the benefits at our countries’ expense.
Does this mean I believe that the governments of Azerbaijan and Türkiye are models of peaceful conduct, respect for the rule of law, human rights, and freedoms? Far from it. But a country is much more than the few dozen people sitting inside its government buildings.

From the major Telegram channel "Voice of Türkiye" (Голос Турции):
“Baku emphasizes that #Azerbaijan is a sovereign state and that no one should interfere in its affairs. It is difficult to argue with this principle. However, it must work both ways.
#Türkiye is an independent state as well and has the right to decide for itself which countries it establishes diplomatic, economic, and trade relations with. Ankara has every right to normalize relations with #Armenia if it believes this serves its own national interests.
Moreover, it was precisely because of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict that Türkiye not only refrained from normalizing relations with Yerevan for a long time, but also kept its land border with Armenia closed. This limited opportunities for developing trade, transport links, and the country’s economy.
Today, the normalization of relations still largely depends on a final settlement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including the signing and entry into force of a peace agreement. But the question remains open: why should Türkiye indefinitely limit its own opportunities because of disagreements between two neighboring states?
After all, Azerbaijan itself independently develops relations with Israel based on its own interests. And if Baku considers this approach its sovereign right, why can’t Ankara apply the same principle to its relations with Armenia?
The claim that Azerbaijan achieved victory in #Karabakh entirely on its own ignores Türkiye’s crucial role.
If the argument that Azerbaijan owes nobody anything for Karabakh is indeed being used to deny external assistance, it does not stand up to scrutiny. Ilham #Aliyev himself has repeatedly emphasized the importance of Türkiye’s support, both political and military-technical.
However, Türkiye’s main role was not limited to supplying weapons, including #Bayraktar drones.
An equally important factor was that Ankara openly supported Baku and signaled to potential participants in the conflict that Azerbaijan would not be left alone in the event of external intervention.”

🇦🇲Armenian exclave:
— Artsvashen (Bashkend) — 38.2 km².
🇦🇿Azerbaijani enclaves:
— Kyarki (Tigranashen) — 8.4 km².
— Yukhari Askipara (Verin Voskepar) — 25.6 km².
— Sofulu and Barkhudarly — 10.2 km².
Total: Azerbaijani enclaves — 44.2 km²; Armenian exclave of Artsvashen — 38.2 km².
The implication is that the status quo regarding these territories would be legally formalized, with each side retaining the enclaves and exclave it currently controls. The difference in their total areas is only around 6 km², which would presumably be taken into account.
In any case, any potential territorial exchange would have to take place only after a referendum. And a referendum would have to be held not only in Armenia, but also in Azerbaijan.

🇦🇲🇦🇿Armenia and Azerbaijan to Exchange Enclaves
The Armenian Prime Minister has outlined the general framework for peace between #Armenia and #Azerbaijan following the signing and ratification of the peace treaty:
- Armenia must have a territory of 29,743 square kilometers. The delimitation and demarcation of the border, based on the Almaty Declaration, must proceed according to this principle.
- There should be no enclaves or exclaves on either side of the border. Armenia and Azerbaijan must carry out a mutual territorial exchange in the exact corresponding proportions.
- All roads and communication links must be open under the #TRIPP project, but not limited to it. All communications must be operational and accessible, including routes enabling transport and transit from Armenia to Armenia through Azerbaijani territory, and from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan through Armenian territory.
- Armenia and Azerbaijan must have no claims against each other and must leave each other alone on all matters and in all respects. This means no claims based on either the narrative of “#Karabakh, Gardman, Shirvan and #Nakhichevan” or that of “#WesternAzerbaijan.”
Importantly, the Prime Minister noted that following his contacts with the Azerbaijani leader in #Turkmenistan, he had gained the “first impression” that there was an opportunity to shape peace along precisely these lines.
“In the near future, we will be working to seize this opportunity and turn it into reality,” #Pashinyan concluded.
