We're making big progress at Old Oak Common. The first six high-speed platforms, built underground in the station box, are now complete. 🚄
Our construction partner Balfour Beatty Vinci SYSTRA has spent the past year building these platforms, starting with 1.59m-high walls before lifting nearly 2,000 pre-cast concrete slabs into place.
The platforms will serve passengers travelling between London and the West Midlands, with onward connections north via the West Coast Main Line.

Everything is bigger in Texas. Elon Musk has unveiled plans to build what he is calling the "largest and most valuable building on Earth by far" – a $ 16.8BN advanced chip factory called 'Terafab' for Tesla and SpaceX in Grimes County, Texas.
At over 9.2M square metres, Terafab – if successfully constructed – would be substantially bigger than the world's current largest building; China's Chengdu New Century Global Center, which has an area of 1.76M square metres.
Experts disagree on whether Russia's 6M square metre AvtoVAZ car assembly plant is in fact the world's current largest building. The complex consists of various structures seemingly amalgamated together.
Tesla and SpaceX say the new factory will employ "at least 3,000 people" from Grimes and nearby Brazos County.
