There have been reports suggesting that Ukraine played a significant intelligence and operational support role in the July 2024 ambush near Tinzaouaten, Mali, which inflicted one of the heaviest battlefield defeats on Russia’s Wagner Group in Africa.
That ambush acted as the final catalyst for Wagner’s dismantlement as an independent force. The Kremlin had a further justification to accelerate its restructuring of the group, absorbing its remaining operations and personnel into the Kremlin controlled Africa Corps and bringing its activities more directly under Russian state control.

The Karen National Union (KNU) says Myanmar's military warned Thailand in August against supplying goods to KNU-controlled areas, threatening airstrikes on its Saw Lae Tha base opposite Mae Sam Laep. Myanmar military aircraft bombed the base on 31 October, with the extent of casualties and damage still unknown.
