🚨Unai Simón blasts Argentina's tactics in World Cup final defeat. Reporter: 🗣️ "Unai, what did you make of Argentina's approach in the final?" Unai Simón: 🗣️ "To be honest, I don't think they came to play open football. From the first whistle, it felt like their plan was to slow the game down, break up our rhythm, and make every minute difficult for us. There were a lot of stoppages, a lot of physical duels, and they seemed more interested in disrupting the match than letting the game flow. "It looked like they wanted to drag the game into the closing stages and take it to penalties because they believed that would give them the best chance of winning. That was their strategy, and they stuck to it. "But football doesn't always go according to plan. We stayed patient, kept believing in ourselves, and eventually found the breakthrough. In the end, their game plan didn't work the way they expected, and that's what matters most."

🚨 🎙️ Thierry Henry on why Mikel Arteta was right to keep Noni Madueke on the pitch despite his missed chances: 🗣️ “This is what I find interesting about football. The moment a game remains goalless, everybody suddenly becomes a tactical expert. You hear people shouting, ‘Arteta needs to make a change!’ But my question is always the same: Who are you taking off, and more importantly, why? If you’re suggesting Noni Madueke should come off, then tell me what he’s doing wrong. Because from where I’m sitting, he’s been Arsenal’s most dangerous attacking player. He’s taking defenders on, creating problems, getting into shooting positions and forcing the goalkeeper into difficult saves. That’s exactly what you want from an attacking player. I understand the frustration. When you’re watching your team create chances without scoring, you naturally want the manager to change something. But there’s a difference between an attacker not doing his job and an attacker being denied by an outstanding goalkeeper. You cannot punish Noni simply because the goalkeeper keeps making saves. Sometimes, as a manager, you have to look beyond the scoreline. Is the player still threatening the opposition? Is he still beating his marker? Is he still creating opportunities? If the answer is yes, then why take him off? And look at the goal. Noni gets the ball on the right, drives at his defender, creates the angle and gets his shot away. The goalkeeper makes another save, but this time the rebound falls into Martin’s path, and he makes absolutely sure Arsenal get the goal. Now think about that for a moment. The very player some people wanted Arteta to substitute was the one who created the opportunity that eventually led to the breakthrough. That’s why I always say you have to understand what you’re watching. A player doesn’t suddenly become ineffective because his name isn’t on the scoresheet. And Martin deserves enormous credit too. People will look at that goal and call it a simple rebound, but as a striker, you have to anticipate those situations. You have to make that run before you even know where the ball will land. That’s instinct. That’s proper centre-forward play. What impressed me most about Noni was his mentality. He didn’t allow those earlier saves to destroy his confidence. He kept demanding the ball, kept taking responsibility and continued putting the opposition under pressure. Some players miss two chances and suddenly become afraid to shoot. They start taking unnecessary touches, looking for excuses to pass and allowing defenders to recover. Noni didn’t do that. He kept believing in his ability. And that’s something Arteta should be praised for recognising. Sometimes the best substitution a manager can make is no substitution at all. You have to trust the player who’s causing the opposition the most problems. The goalkeeper was having a brilliant game, but that doesn’t mean Noni Madueke was having a bad one. Arteta saw the threat, kept faith with him, and Arsenal eventually got their reward. That’s football. And perhaps next time people are demanding a substitution, they should look a little closer at what’s actually happening on the pitch.”

🚨 🎙️ Viktor Gyökeres on Mikel Arteta’s instructions to him and Mikel Merino before bringing them on against Hull City: 🗣️ “I remember looking at the clock and thinking we needed to change something. We had controlled possession, created moments, but the goal wasn’t coming. Hull were defending deep, staying compact and making it extremely difficult for us to find spaces. Then Mikel called Merino and me over. He looked at us and said, ‘Listen, I don’t want you coming onto this pitch and giving them more of the same. We’ve been knocking on the door. Now I want you two to break it down.’ I remember smiling when he said that. He turned to Merino and told him, ‘Mikel, I need you attacking the spaces. Don’t just stand around waiting for the ball. Make those late runs into the box.’ Then he looked at me and said, ‘Viktor, I don’t need you touching the ball every few seconds. I need you making defenders uncomfortable. Every time you threaten the space behind them, make them worry.’ He wanted us to change the entire feeling of the game. He said, ‘Don’t come on thinking you have to score with your first opportunity. Change the tempo, stretch their defence and force them to make decisions they don’t want to make. Once they start losing their shape, the opportunities will come.’ That was the message. Simple, but very clear. As soon as I came on, I noticed the defenders were reacting differently. They were watching my movements, tracking my runs and becoming more cautious about pushing forward. That alone started creating spaces for the other players. Mikel was constantly shouting instructions from the touchline, telling Merino to get closer to me and make sure we didn’t become isolated. We started moving the ball quicker, attacking the spaces and putting Hull under pressure in ways they hadn’t experienced earlier in the game. Before we went onto the pitch, Arteta had told us something else. ‘You’ve got limited time to make a difference. Don’t wait for the game to open up. Go out there and force it to happen.’ I kept thinking about those words. And then came the moment. Ødegaard found the right pass, Martin got into the position he needed to be in, and suddenly the breakthrough arrived. When the goal went in, I looked towards Merino and then towards the bench. We understood exactly what had changed. It wasn’t simply about bringing on two fresh players. It was about introducing a different threat, changing the movement and giving Hull something new to worry about. That’s what I appreciated about the manager’s instructions. He didn’t just tell us to go out there and score. He gave each of us a responsibility and explained exactly what he wanted us to bring to the game. We didn’t need to dominate the game differently. We needed to make Hull defend differently. And that’s exactly what happened. Sometimes, you can have all the possession in the world, but one tactical adjustment, one intelligent run and one decisive finish are all it takes to unlock a difficult opponent. That’s the beauty of football.” #ARSHUL

🚨 🎙️ Gary Neville on Manchester City’s disastrous performance against Nottingham Forest, takes a cheeky swipe at Enzo Maresca: 🗣️ “This is an absolute embarrassment from Manchester City! Two goals down inside 20 minutes? Honestly, you couldn’t write a worse start. And look at Enzo Maresca on that touchline. He looks like a man who has just witnessed a complete disaster. You almost wonder whether the football gods have decided to serve him a little reminder that decisions in football have consequences. After the way things ended at Chelsea, perhaps this isn’t the kind of afternoon he was hoping for! But forget the touchline for a moment. Look at the players! They’re moving as though they’ve spent the entire afternoon at a Sunday buffet before coming out to play. No urgency, no aggression, no intensity whatsoever. The defensive organisation is frighteningly poor. Marc Guéhi has struggled, the backline looks completely disjointed, and Nottingham Forest are finding far too much space. City are making it ridiculously easy for them. The only player who seems genuinely determined to make something happen is Jeremy Doku. At least he’s trying to take defenders on, create something and inject a bit of life into City’s attack. The rest? They’re watching the game happen around them! For a team with Manchester City’s quality, this is nowhere near acceptable. You can lose football matches, but you cannot look this disorganised and this passive. Forest are playing like a team that smells blood, while City look like a team that hasn’t realised the match has started. Absolutely shocking!”

Let's not get carried away. Gabriel Magalhães and William Saliba have built one of the most formidable defensive partnerships in European football. The understanding, chemistry and consistency are on another level. Ezri Konsa is a good defender, but replacing that partnership is a completely different conversation. Some partnerships are simply built different. ❤️🤍
🚨💣GABRIEL MAGALHÃES ON HIS BEST DEFENSIVE PARTNER! 🗣️ “Everyone knows how good William Saliba is, and we’ve built an incredible partnership over the years. But I’ll be honest, playing alongside Ezri Konsa has made me realise that there are different ways to build an even stronger defensive partnership. Sometimes, two defenders don’t need years together to understand each other. Ezri has impressed me more than people probably expected. I have great respect for William, but I don’t think our partnership should be considered untouchable. At Arsenal, the best players should play, regardless of how long they’ve been together.” Is the Gabriel–Saliba partnership still untouchable, or has Konsa given Arteta a genuine selection dilemma?

🚨 🎙️ Roy Keane on JJ Gabriel reportedly agreeing to join Real Madrid after seeking an exit from Manchester United at just 15: 🗣️ “Let me make something clear. I have no problem with a young player being attracted to Real Madrid. They’re one of the biggest clubs in the world. Any talented youngster would be excited by that opportunity. But what concerns me is how we’re discussing a 16-year-old boy as though he’s an established professional demanding special treatment. I was speaking to someone about the situation, and he said, ‘Roy, you can’t blame him. Real Madrid want him.’ I said, ‘Of course he should be excited. But why has his development suddenly become a battle over first-team minutes?’ We’re talking about a player Manchester United clearly believe in. He was training with senior players, playing above his age group and getting opportunities to impress during pre-season. That doesn’t happen by accident. Now we’re hearing reports about disagreements over playing time, training arrangements and whether he should feature for the Under-21s. If that’s true, then I think people need to get their priorities right. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with playing for the Under-21s. You’re not being punished because a manager wants you to play 90 minutes at that level instead of sitting on the first-team bench and getting five minutes. Someone said to me, ‘But Roy, if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.’ I said, ‘Good enough for what exactly? One appearance? Ten minutes? Or the responsibility of playing at the highest level week after week? Those are completely different things.’ Having outstanding talent doesn’t mean you’re automatically ready for senior football. And don’t misunderstand me. I’m not saying he should turn down Real Madrid. That’s a massive opportunity. But if the reason for leaving Manchester United is a lack of first-team football, how does moving to Madrid guarantee him anything? Who’s going to manage his development? Where will he train? How many competitive minutes will he actually get? And what happens when he goes through a difficult period? Because he will. Every young player does. Look at the young players who have come through at Manchester United. Marcus Rashford had to take his opportunity. Kobbie Mainoo had to prove himself. Nobody handed them a guaranteed career because they were talented academy players. People need to stop confusing a few outstanding youth performances with being ready to take over senior football. Scoring goals at academy level is brilliant, but can you perform when defenders are stronger, the pressure is greater and the entire stadium is waiting for you to make a mistake? That’s where development really begins. And I have another concern. There are adults involved in these decisions. Agents, advisers and family members. Their responsibility should be to protect the boy’s future, not turn every disagreement into a transfer saga. Someone asked me, ‘Roy, are you worried he’ll make the wrong decision?’ I said, ‘I hope he becomes a fantastic footballer. He’s a young lad with enormous potential. But being wanted by Real Madrid doesn’t mean you’ve made it, and being frustrated at Manchester United doesn’t mean the club is holding you back.’ At 16, your biggest concern should be becoming a better footballer, not deciding which giant European club should give you the fastest route to the first team. You can change clubs whenever you want, but you cannot get those crucial development years back. And that’s something I hope the people around JJ Gabriel understand.”
🚨 JJ Gabriel’s father explains why they turned down Manchester United for Real Madrid. 🗣️ Joe O’Cearuill: “We had honest discussions with Michael Carrick and Jason Wilcox, but our biggest question was simple: What is the clear pathway for JJ at Manchester United? JJ is only 16. We wanted a structured development plan, regular first-team training and a clear route toward senior football. United couldn’t give us the clarity we wanted. Then Real Madrid came in with a different approach. They showed us a clearer pathway, were willing to meet our financial expectations and made it clear that JJ would have to compete for his opportunity. This decision wasn’t about money or disrespecting Manchester United. It was about choosing the environment we believe gives JJ the best chance to reach his potential. He isn’t going to Madrid to become the next Ronaldo or Bellingham. He’s going there to become JJ Gabriel. Manchester United had the opportunity to convince us. Real Madrid did.
